Xavier Game

Just don't get how they can come out and play such uninspired ball in their biggest game of the year?

maybe they read this board and see how everyone tells them they suck the moment they do something wrong....

Yeah, that must be it.

I feel no reason to attack the team or any player or coach tonight. They just looked like they had nothing more to give after digging out of the 0 and 5 start. The hell Jordan went through with losing another family member and Obekpa playing hurt didn't help matters. It looked like the whole team had their hearts ripped out. Xavier gave them nothing, playing solid D throughout. Season is not over. Even if there is no dancing, the great part of being a SJU fan is that there is no graduation day for true fans. We can hopefully come back next year and start with high hopes.

Harrison gave us nothing tonight.

story of the season...

Are you sure you like this team?

im sorry if i just dont willingly accept how underachieving this team is and program is. take your pom poms to a middle school gym. we actually had a shot to be relevant this year and blew it big time. 14 years of not winning a tournament game makes me sick.

but i bet you enjoy the lame posters crying about sir dom and phil greene every game while ignoring the true problems with this team (harrison, lavin, etc.)

Yep it's Joe3 alright

booooooo....get a new act.

Just admit it

you're more off than harrison...go to sleep.

I'm too disappointed. I know you'll sleep like a baby knowing the team you hate lost! Oh yea, Harrison the guy you hate the most, shot 1-11! You're probably so happy right now. Get lost. You conveniently showed up on the board when the 0-5 start happened, and you've been waiting for us to lose again ever since so you could rejoice. I'm wrong, you aren't joe3, cause as crazy as he was he loved St. John's, and the same can't be said about you.

We need to win remaining 2 games, and 2 in the BET and I think we are in!

Agree. 11-8, and I didn't think we had to make it to Saturday night. 10-8 will put us in a position for Saturday night to be mandatory.

We need a decent shooting regular rotation player. Who can make a 3 when needed. We don't have one and I hope Lavin scours the hinterlands and gets one.

We certainly don't need anymore Athletes who lack fundamental skills.. Next year's team better have a more reliable shooter..

yup, you got me. i hate a school that i graduated from, and a team whose messageboard i post on. Im sooooo happy we're likely onto year 15 without a tournament win.

you're batting crisp .000000 tonight. Even d'angelo performed better....

The knee jerk reaction is to simply say the effort wasn't there or they didn't come to play. That's not fair.

Xavier came tonight with a bit of desperation and played like it. This was an ugly game exactly how Xavier wanted it.

Harrison can't go 1-11 in this big a game. He had some looks. Love the kid but he needed to step up especially in the 2nd half.

Major disappointment. The Reynolds kid destroyed us. He looked like the ROY. I have just about given up on this team. Not sure I am looking forward to next year either.

Ray normally I would say hell yea but enough is enough this season was suppose to be special we had high preseason expectations and technically a weaker conference. It is noble that we got back to .500 and I understand that there kids though we have a 25 year old on the team. Next year I am guessing Lavin will give the excuse now they're Seniors so we will be world beaters. You want turn my frown into a big goddamn smile win Big East Tournament get to a Sweet 16. Us Alumni/fans have suffered enough.

Unfortunately nobody might be coming. The team you watched tonight is going to be the same team next year minus Sanchez/GG. Unless Christian Jones has become a 3pt specialist these last few months, nobody is gonna fill the void. Jones isn't gonna be that guy, obviously, so we gotta hope Lavin pulls a JUCO out of his arse or somebody improves big time. But jump shooting is this teams "fatal flaw" and it needs to be addressed fast, or else I'm afraid next season might be a lot similar to this season.

For what it's worth, this season is not over. The talk was that St. John's needed 2 of its last three to keep itself in the convo for the tourney. With an easier game coming up at home, we could win and put ourselves in a position to get a huge road win at Marquette. Even if that scenario plays out, we still have to reach the final of the big east tournament to really be safe on the bubble, which means we will probably have to go through Creighton/Villanova. It's gonna be very tough, but we aren't finished yet. The problem is this team looked dreadful tonight, and if it plays like that he rest of the season, than it IS over

It will all come together by February 2015

I want to vent so bad right now because I am so pissed off, and some of the posts in this thread (both the supposed "good" ones and the "bad" ones) are not helping one bit, but, none of these guys are going pro, so what's there not to look forward to? Man, I hate sports so much right now. Same flipping script all the time for me, doesn't even matter which sport it is.

At the game tonight. Interesting.. I am less pissed watching live then watching on tv. Anybody see d angelo. Man.. he was complete no show tonight. Kid is so good at times and then in games like tonight he just cant deliver a high quality game. He couldn't shoot at all tonight. Gods gift.. 3 missed free throws and phil green cant shoot. Overall very disappointing game.

We still have a shot to finish in 3rd, as Xavier, Providence, and G'town have some very, tough games ahead. I'm not giving up on the chance of participating in the NCAA Tournament just yet.

Our task just became more daunting, but it's still within reach if we can finish up at 10-8 and win two more in the Big East tourney. Anything less than that, and our goose is cooked.

I've been watching sports too long to throw in the towel in this particular situation. Stranger things have happened. The team could very, well start clicking again. They still have a chance to rectify things.

Will they do it? Story to be continued....

I agree. I understand the bitterness of losing this important game but the season is not over.

Let's see how this plays out.

Pathetic effort....atrocious defense....poor shooting as usual....all add up to another season without ncaa tournament win....going no where with Lavin....great at getting players...horrible coach.

Just got home from my accountant and was totally dismayed to learn we lost tonight. At the risk of oversimplifying, my high school coach used to say, "The team that wants it most is usually the team that wins." Even if we squeeze into the NCAAs, I don't see us making any noise. NIT might be a different story, but right now I'm finding it hard to get cranked up over an NIT appearance. Is it possible the players still think they're so good that they can win just by walking onto the court?
