But my dad has a generator so he's good, well power wise.
I bought a generator during Sandy and literally haven’t used it since and it didn’t fucking work and my neighbor who is really handy took it apart and the carberator is shot. FML
Would it piss you off to tell you my dad just called to let me know Port Jeff has their power back? LOL
Nah would only piss me off if they renamed the town after you :)
That ship has sailed. Old man is finally retiring this year, he'll have to settle for his plaque at the harborside park. Also his cousins son ran for Mayor last year or the year before and thankfully got crushed.. But we'll always have Stony Brook lacrosse. LOL

Went out in beautiful Downtown Cheshire CT Tuesday afternoon. I have been told may not be back until next Tuesday. Just borrowed a generator from a friend to keep the power on for fridge and Computer & phone for work.
I am going out to dinner with a friend tonight and there is no need to worry about social distancing with no shower and this heat for 3 days. I will hit up the generator friend to be a shower friend!!
I’m in Manalapan N.J. , still no power here.
Jersey? Didn't you guys just get running water a couple of years ago? I'd think electricity was still in the "new toy" stage for youse guys.

[No I have no power, my parents have no power, my GF has no power, no clue when any of us are getting it back, when PSEG doesn't hit their estimate they just change the estimate.]

No power still and haven’t seen. a crew so assuming I’ll be back up by Christmas because PSEG will make sure they get their Xmas light money. . My parents in Glen Cove just got it back an hour ago.

Have you finished all your beers and lobster rolls yet?

PS-when I saw the caption who still in the dark, I thought for sure there would be comments about various posters. PPS--no loses down in the Rockaways.

I do have some standards :). But most importantly mjmaherjr has power back ! On my way from Glen Cove to Huntington actually saw armadas of power trucks from all different companies. They are all over the place now obviously due to my rant. Lol. My brother lives in Halesite they still don’t have power

Lost power for 7 hours day of storm then 3 days later, today, lost it again at 8;30am and just got it back at 9pm tonight. Not sure how you can lose it for 12 1/2 hours for a second time 3 days later.

We never lost power but had no cable/WIFI (Optimum)...it came back somewhere between midnight and 9.this am.

Just got mine back about an hour ago. 3 of the 4 streets adjacent to mine were blocked off by trees until last night.

I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who lived in Beirut. As a Rockaway person I feel for those going through this but note the expectation of recovery in almost every post. Not so in the Paris of the Middle East.

My son’s girlfriend is still without power. We are lucky as we have gone through many storms including Sandy and have not lost power.

To pick up on your post, I know a guy who works for a contractor for Con Es and PSE&G. He got sent down to Puerto Rico after the big hurricane they got hit by a couple of years ago. He was in charge of several crews who up in the mountains trying to restore power there. In a meeting with the communities he informed them it would be 2 to 3 months before they would have power restored. People gasped and some started crying and he told assured them he was sorry and they would do their best to finish as quickly as possible. He was told that the tears were tears of joy because they were expecting to hear it would take over a year.

He tells me the people were great and treated the crews great always offering them something to eat or drink although they were suffering. Power would be restored by his crew in sections throughout their time there. One of his biggest disappointments was that he got called back before they finished the one last stretch which would have completed the job and the remaining people in that area would have had their power back on. Another crew completed that stretch.

Beirut ceased being the Paris of the Middle East long ago. A huge shame.

If I understand your logic, that would mean that if I go to a restaurant and it takes them 2 hours to bring me my food, I shouldn't complain because there are people starving all over the world? Really? And why shouldn't people have an "expectation of recovery"? Maybe you've forgotten that in the last few months we just lost over 30K people in NY alone to Covid, many friends and relatives of posters on this board. I'd call that a pretty big humanitarian crisis as well.

Well first trucks pulled up in west hills area of Huntington around 5pm.....still no power day 5, hopefully I can checkout of the Hilton garden inn Plainview today

At 8AM, was texting my sister in Wantagh about her power outage status, and at same time, we just had an earthquake here in NC. 5.1 magnitude. Center was about 1 hour north in Blue Ridge Mountains near VA/NC line.

Our house shook a little for like 20 seconds.

2020 has been memorable.
