Who is the speediest player in SJU hoops. Who is the smoothest opponent you e
Boo Harvey was probably the smoothest, he never appeared to get rattled. Just played his game and came through in the clutch.
As for the fastest with the ball, I have to agree that Marcus Lovett gets the nod.
Boo Harvey is very underrated among our all time best players. The year with him and Porter in the backcourt provided a lot of great moments. I think Porter wasn't great with the books and only played one season. He could fly though - drive the middle and throw it down over big men. He appeared to be 5'10 at best, correct?
Smooth to me is unflappable. Doing everything seemingly without breaking a sweat. I'm thinking a George Gervin type. Khalid El-Amin comes to mind. Scottie May was smooth. Efficient without being showy. Smooth means knowing how good you are, and not needing to scream it out to the world.
Scott May would be way up there for the smoothest opponent. Speediest opponent was Iverson, who played at warp speed. Smoothest opponent had to be Michael Jordan, though we only played them once (and beat them I believe).

Fastest with the ball was Boo Harvey, maybe Lovett could have exceeded but didn't see enough.

The Pearl was the smoothest opponent that I can remember.

I remember being at a game against Jordan at The Garden (maybe the Holiday Festival) that we lost. It was his sophomore year I think.

I played against Porter in a pickup game at Alumni Hall right around the time he was leaving the team. I was truly stunned at how he got up. It seemed supernatural. I'm not kidding. It was not on the normal human scale.
Did you block his shot?

I loved watching that team. Shelton Jones was a Senior and Jayson Williams a Freshman. Then you had Baldi and Brust. They lost a close first round game against Florida and Vernon Maxwell. I was really disappointed that Porter didn't return.

What really amazed me was he was under the basket and did a standing still vertical to get a rebound that looked totally effortless and his feet were practically at the level of my face. I did not block any of his shots but I did manage to turn him twice with footwork. The second time he gave me a hard elbow to the nose. As I recall he left the gym before the blood stopped. I played on after that and got a little more respect from everyone there who knew I was way out of my depth and had no business in that game.

Yes that is a much better description but maybe his leap towards the basket still blurs my mind.

I found this video.

#23 on Rutgers was Craig Carter from Bronx Science
I'm just wondering if he filed a flight plan and was he cleared for take off?
Oh and smoothest operator (other than Sade) was Reggie Williams.
Mentioning Reggie Williams made me think of another smooth Georgetown alum. His effortless, unrushed game and droopy eyes earned him the nickname "Sleepy". Eric Floyd could drop 25 on you and never break a sweat.

Skipping his finals to go on vacation with his girlfriend probably didn't help matters if school had been a struggle up until then.

Nice find. If we’re picking our best leapers I’m taking Porter for number 1 2 and 3 Greg Williams ain’t bad either
Speediest: Lovett

Smoothest: Pearl Washington
I never really thought PEarl Washington was smooth. He had a very awkward shot, more of a set shot than a jumper. He was quicker than just blazing fast. His schoolyard nick name was Pacman, because he could change directions in an instant and zip all over the court. Whereas nationally ranked center were embarrassed by Ewing (I once saw Joe Klein get his shot blocked like 5 times on one possession by Ewing), Washington could stutter step into the lane, completely freeze Ewing, and arch a bank shot over his reach. Only guy in college basketball who could take the ball right ar Ewing and win.

Pearl washington , a fraction of earl the pearl, who.was jazz..

Frazier was cool jazz
