When did you find this site and how?

I'm with austour aol message boards, that's how, wow.

Loved the Maven early on, and later on, Fun's columns (I really miss those.)

Oldschool/O'Toole/CMA Time/etc. Funny thing is that we usually don't care if posters comeback under another personna, so long as they change their behavior and apologize for being an O'toole in the past. All we want is for people to play by the rules.

Guys. Absolutely love this site. Read all time

Not sure when I came across it. Being a fan for more than 35 years
Definitely look to keep up on things going

Thanks again!

I stopped watching St. John's retired, but would read about them in the papers.
In 1997-98 they started doing good again (Fran's second season), they won 7 straight games and even thought thev name changed, I decided to google Redmen or Redmen.com just to see what came up. One of the links I saw was this forum, I thought it was an old link but I clicked it, and seen it was a message board.
I been here everyday during the season ever since.
Every day for 23+ years and only 87 posts? It's almost like you were posting under another name (or two, or three, or twelve). That or you are lying about how long you've been posting here. Either way, you'd be better served following through on your promise to move on to JJ.
I said " I been here everyday during the season ever since." I never said I been signing on ever since then.

Try harder SJUFAN.
No need to try. You make everything as clear as crystal. We see you.
Hahaha You seem to be obsessed with some guy that you think I am. That's not a good thing SJUFAN.
I'm done responding to you so as someone said to another moderator yesterday, you can have the last word. I know you will post again.
Pretty sure they can just match all the IP addreses. Unless of course you are logging in from a different location with each new screen name. That would really take devotion, though.

Not sure devotion is the word I'd use...:)

It's easy enough to check, but usually we don't care to. Most of the guys we've banned still post here, but they have learned to fit in and good for them.
Some guys however, just can't get past that "stirring shit" phase. I'm sure he'll end up on JJ ranting about how bad this site is, I am, Paul is, Mods are, etc. etc.

I've followed Mike Anderson's career since his days as an assistant for Nolan Richardson.

I've seen him rebuild Missouri and Arkansas' struggling basketball programs. Missouri was a real mess after Quin Snyder and the NCAA probation.

I knew Mike would do something special at St John's. It's probably his last opportunity to build a top ranked program.

Found several St John's message boards with Google. I lurked here awhile and decided to join the conversations. It's been interesting so far and it's fun to discuss the ups and downs of the Johnnies.

Found this awesome site a loooong time ago, back when we were #4 on the all time wins list. It was during the Kyle Cuffe years.

Introduced to site by member of the staff around time of Bootsy Thorton (for some reason Bootsy is the one I remember being discussed). BTW I find the last 2 words of the title of this thread offensive. (JK) ;) :)

Decades ago, in the pre internet era I use to regularly speak over the telephone with an enthusiastic fan named 'Tom". We met through the newsletter "Big East Briefs" .

Tom made a connection with "Paul" through the AOL chat group. I recall "Tom" telling me that "Paul" was going to set up an internet message board for St. John's fans. I joked that there would be maybe 10 posts per week. I was wrong.

Paul established the website Redmen.com and it was an instant hit.

Redmen.com predates Rivals and every other message board I am aware of.

The Redmen.com has given St. John's fans a place to bitch, complain and occasionally pound their chest with optimism. The website has also given me an opportunity to meet a handful of Redmen.comers who have become real friends. If I did not live 100s of miles away I would have the opportunity to personally meet more posters.

What I have come to believe over the years is that any poster on Redmen.com that is a regular to the site regardless of how annoying their posts may be is nevertheless a true fan.

So yeah, everyone reading this post knows that Redmen.com has been a success for decades but what not enough know or appreciate is just how much time and money "Paul" has put into the site year after year, after year for which he has elected to charge zero fee whatsoever for the privilege to read and post on his site..

Hey Paul ..... Thank you.

Found this site in 09 when I graduated St. John’s . My frat brother Jayson Castillo, and Stephen La Russo we’re both head managers of the team during the Roberts/ Lavin years, both were close friends of Justin Burrell, and DJ Kennedy.

I have had the opportunity to meet Jerseyshorejohnny(Kevin) on this site who was recently was honored by Mike Cragg as he should of . Kevin not only gave me the opportunity to sit court side with him multiple occasions, because he knew how much I love St. John’s , but he also sent me a book on Joe Lapchick out of the kindness of his heart without me even asking him . I will never forget that , and I think of Kevin every single season St. John’s play .

Paul I thank you everyday for making this site possible, I am on this almost every minute of my life at work . I look forward to meeting more die hard Johnny fans like myself in the future. St. John’s I love you

I can't remember what year it was but I was still working and did not have much time to do this interweb thing but a guy from my old neighborhood named Sammy was a moderator and he produced a Big East show I watched religiously turned me on to the site and after I retired I started to post regularly as Class of 72 which was a mistake because now some fans see me as an old timer when in fact I have the mentality of a college freshman which has gotten me into a shitload of trouble in the past since I was here to have fun.  Speaking of which, Fun was a favorite poster of mine as I got his humor and the Maven used to have scoops next to none.  Of course being human with faults both took the fun to a different level and it was not fun any longer.  I miss those days.  That said I really want to thank Paul and all the moderators for their years of patience with me and other ball breakers here when we went through some very difficult seasons and I firmly believe that we are turning the corner starting next year with this dedicated staff.

I joined either just before or just after Jarvis became coach. I was on the Big East site and it was dissolving and someone, likely TIS, mentioned this site and I joined up. I too am thankful to Paul and others for all that they do, especially living in the center of UCONN-land it got me through a lot of anguish which will resurface next year.

Like most, I don't remember the exact year or format (old AOL or new Redmen.com) site that I started with. I used a different screen name then. A season ticket holder, I was a big Fran supporter (hated Mahoney as coach), to the point that a friend of mine, Cos44 and I were friends of Fran's wife, Meg. There were posters at the time, Maven (who had great scoops) and TIS, who didn't like the fact some pedestrian fans like us could have a relationship with a coach, and give updates that they didn't have, etc.. Our emails back and forth (which I still have on my computer) got very testy at times, to the point where they wanted to meet us in the stands or parking lot and have it out with us. One of them even sent an intermediary once to see us in the stands. Childish behavior, certainly on all our parts. I think I may have eventually been banned for one of the sites, and eventually made my way back in under a new user name. Older now and not a big poster, but I do thank those that post opinions that I agree with. Can't thank Paul enough for giving us this forum, and for those who moderate it and those who contribute on a daily basis. Like others have stated, this is one of the first sites I visit every day, and I too look forward to the day when we are back near the top, and of season games are meaningful.

Cos44. That is a blast from the AOL past. He had some epic blowups as the Mahoney year's imploded as I recall. Good times. LOL

And his buddy Giggy Dog works for SJU now lol

Penance in confession. Either join this board and live and die with the team or say 2 billion Hail Mary's. I should've taken the Hail Mary.'s
