What's in a name?
Bring back THE TUX--that guy had a lot of guts to wear the top hat and tails.
Yet it makes some sense, you know show biz, dancing, Broadway.. In that vein

That's been my choice for a while now too. Then we could have merchandise emblazoned with "Red Men"

Chief Jay, was one of the greats of the Old WWF. .. despite the fact that he was of Italian Heritage , when he got his War Dance going full tilt , it was bad news for the opponent . If you recall , he only got his War Whoops and Dance going after taking a terrific beating up to that point in the Match . But, that was what we loved about Pro Wrestling back in the Day . And , there were no surprises usually . You knew who was going to win
tell that to my friends and I abd an absolutely stunned MSG when we saw live Backlund lose the title to the Iron Sheikh. I’m still pissed over that day :)
It’s difficult to break out of that mental camel clutch

Is this discussion actually going anywhere?

___________

.... or the St. John's Reds like the Syracuse has seemingly dropped the men out of Orangemen and now regularly identify as the Syracuse Orange.

The sad part is that StJohn's may well have paid an Ad agency to brainstorm the name "RedStorm".
Rather than the name "reds", how about the name "commies". It would certainly be representative of a lot of New Yorkers these days.

What is ironic about the use of native American nicknames by most sports teams on all levels is that the reference is made in reverence and pride of our native Americans. Most knowledgeable and sane people know this to be true.
That is why even in this age of political correctness which is hyped by the hypocritical left liberals doing their best to un-Americanize America , hundreds of scholastic sports teams still use nicknames like Warriors, Braves, Apaches, Chiefs, Blackhawks etc.
Everyone knows the
Minnesota Vikings
Atlanta Braves
San Diego Padres
Washington Redskins
San Diego State Aztecs
New Mexico Lobos
Cleveland Indians
Edmonton Eskimos
USC Trojans .

Should Scandinavian Americans object to the Vikings? Should Mexican Americans object to the Padres?
Should African Americans object to the Army Black Knights? Should any liberal lefties object to Trojans?
Should Donald Trump object to the Syracuse Orange Men?

HELL NO!

I fight with my wife every day. Of course she roots for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

If we had to stick with the Red theme how could a school five miles from Belmont and Aqueduct miss on Big Red?

We could have hired a Secretariat lookalike as the team mascot.

It would solve the no-fight song problem, too. We could all stand and sing "The Internationale."
