What are you doing with no sports
I'll give you guys a funny story with legit life lessons. Sunday between 3-4 Nathalie and I were driving and I said lets make 1 last stop before we go home just to top off some grocery stuff. I said lets try the supermarket in huntington station that's pretty much like the spanish supermarket because generally I'm the only gringo ever there. I'm sure they willl have stuff because Latin and South Americans ( no offense to any here ) never plan for anything. Heck in Peru they buy that nights food at the grocery store that day.

Anyway we go there and there might have been 5 people shopping TOTAL in the store.

They had plenty of toilet paper, bread pasta canned food everything. EXCEPT Chicken. Not 1 shred of chicken in the whole store.

3 life lessons you can take from this.

Spanish people LOVE Chicken
White people are the hoarders
White people ( except me ) are afraid to shop in huntington station
Ha ha, just yesterday I was thinking about whether the Mexican supermarkets in East Oakland would have stuff because the average white person might not want to go there.

Fear is definitely working well for our shopping in Oakland Chinatown. My wife can find food no problem because people are afraid to be around Asians. And I've been able to find medicine no problem for if I eventually catch something flu-like that isn't coronavirus.

Our big supermarkets -- Safeway and Lucky -- and Target are five minutes from my home, and are still wiped the hell out. I haven't had to resort to lining up outside at 5 a.m. yet waiting for them to open, but if people keep hoarding, I will eventually have to, thus becoming who I hate.

You have great timing. Just today my wife who is from Honduras was bitching to me that she could not find chicken at the local Stop and Shop. She claims old white woman are losing there minds. Frankly I was more worried about the pasta situation as I have about 15 bottles of Prego but very little pasta. You can make pasta and it’ll last weeks or until corona hysteria passes. Anyway, my wife placed a call to her father who lives in Queens. He has assured her he has a friend of a friend who will cover all her chicken requirements and TP needs as needed. I kid you not, I think I’m driving to Queens tomorrow to pick up the pollo. Either that or I am a dead man. I think she’s joking. I think.

Nathalie went back yesterday and they were fully stocked although she didn't look for TP or towels because we don't need any. They even had just gotten delivery of chicken

My mother in law used to shop there way back in the day. It closed a few years back and then reopened in it's current set-up. We've been there but not in the last couple of years.

If you like sushi, there's a neat little hole-in-the-wall place about two blocks south called Kohaku. It's unique in that the owner chef is Japanese. They've been there at least 25 years, hope they survive this pandemic.

The world is moving quickly. Five days ago it was what to do without sports. Now it's what to do locked in your home almost 24-7. The supermarket is the highlight of my day. The only one with chicken is Whole Foods. Apparently, people would rather eat canned beans then pay their high prices for chicken. Last night at Publix, I got the last 2 cartons of eggs that were delivered a few hours before. Some guy had a stack off egg cartons under his arm. I asked him if he was expecting company, and he just ran off in shame.

I was just scrolling Netflix and three of the popular movies are Outbreak, Pandemic and 2012. As they say, you can’t make it up.:)

Bought some restaurant gift certificates fir our goto places the other day hoping they survive this and figured even little bit helps. My dry cleaner is getting clobbered in this. Biz down dramatically when people started working from home. Heck I just got my home alarm bill half hour ago and went right to the mailbox to mail it because I dont want anyone owed money paid a day late in this disaster

Casting Networks is offering a 35 percent discount to users who ask. I told them to keep it... You're right, people need to work. The gift cards are a great idea. Just hope the eatery doesn't go out of business.

Since we are writing about food and movies, maybe Clemenza knew something of the run on food when he said "leave the gun, take the cannoli".

Also pasta lovers, there will be a shortage of the good stuff from Italy. Get used to eating Mueller's "pasta"

For the sports starved--tonight (Friday) at 7PM on Fox sports plus, the Collingwood Magpies open their season. The game is played in an empty stadium for a team that averages close to 60,000. It was played earlier and this is a replay.

Also I saw that one of the networks is replaying the matches from the 2019 women's world cup. How about which ever network has the rights of replay for prior NCAA's reshowing them-all the games. They could do region by region building to semi's and finals.
