What are you doing with no sports

Sitting in front of the TV waiting for the 2nd half to start. :(

She has the remote, doesn’t she? :)
Yes...and she tells me where she'll put it if I try to take it from her.

I'm enjoying my new drink. It's called THE QUARANTINI.
It's just a regular martini, but you drink it alone in your house.

Cleaning the house more. Cooking more. Listening to music. Indoor gardening with my many houseplants. Washing my hands 20X a day. Talking to relatives overseas more. Reflecting back to my childhood before coming to America when we didn't have television, phones, a car and indoor running water. Praying for the sick and deceased.

FYI see below from Churchill Downs: moving Kentucky Derby to first Saturday in September. Look at the bright side, maybe it won't rain.

Churchill Downs Incorporated announced today its decision to reschedule the 146th Longines Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. The 146th Kentucky Derby will be rescheduled from May 2, 2020 to September 5, 2020 and the 146th Kentucky Oaks will be rescheduled from May 1, 2020 to September 4, 2020. These dates are contingent upon final approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission which we expect to receive on Thursday, March 19.

CDI’s CEO, Bill Carstanjen, stated: “Throughout the rapid development of the COVID-19 pandemic, our first priority has been how to best protect the safety and health of our guests, team members and community. As the situation evolved, we steadily made all necessary operational adjustments to provide the safest experience and environment. The most recent developments have led us to make some very difficult, but we believe, necessary decisions and our hearts are with those who have been or continue to be affected by this pandemic.

We are fortunate to have great partnerships during these challenging times with the Governor of Kentucky, the City of Louisville, NBC and so many others. For the second time in the 145-year history of the event, the first time being at the end of World War II, we will move the date of the Kentucky Derby. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this creates for our outstanding fans, whom I’m sure will understand that there is no doubt that this must be done.

Our team is united in our commitment to holding the very best Kentucky Derby ever and certainly the most unique in any of our lifetimes. While we are always respectful of the time-honored traditions of the Kentucky Derby, our Company’s true legacy is one of resilience, the embracing of change and unshakeable resolve.

We will hold the 146th Kentucky Derby on September 5th, 2020, just as our Company has held the Kentucky Derby in every single year since 1875. The 146th running of Kentucky Oaks will take place the day before on Friday, September 4th, 2020.”

We believe that moving this iconic event to Labor Day weekend this year will enable the country to have time to contain the spread of COVID-19. This will also provide guests more time to reschedule their travel and hotel arrangements so that they can attend. Broadcast partner NBC was involved in the selection of dates based on the limited number of other sporting events being held that weekend and the decision was also based on the availability of lodging in the Louisville area to accommodate visitors to the Derby.

The impact of this iconic event extends well beyond the historic racetrack of Churchill Downs – and is an important time for the city of Louisville and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Details and planning for Derby Week beyond Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby are still to be determined. Happy (hopefully) St. Patrick's Day. Trying to avoid TV news as all depressing, so today's doings include making the corned beef and Irish soda bread with the wife--beats cleaning the house. Don't have the family as usual so got a lot of corned beef and bread for the next 4 days. Lucky I always have Guinness in the house. Slainte!!

The New York Times will give you a lot of sheets per paper; otherwise there are always leaves.
Seriously, could not believe the empty TP shelves in supermarket. A little weird-don't get it unless the virus is scaring the poop out of folks. Amazing what folks are buying in bulk.

Binged watched the first 6 seasons of "The Blacklist". James Spader makes it an action show, drama and comedy all by himself. Watching "350" on Amazon Prime. It's interviews with many retired wrestlers including George Steele and Superstar Billy Graham. Looks like steroids, cocaine and alcohol got a lot of wrestlers to the finish line.

Spoke with friends in Australia today and it is as bad there as it is here. (going crazy for toilet paper). But the news is that the opening of the AFL (Aussie Rules Football) has kicked off with games playing in empty stadiums and shortened quarters.
I am a big lover of Aussie Rules-an overseas member of the Collingwood team--Go Pies. You can catch the games on Fox Sports Plus (their soccer channel); would be surprised if they move it to Fox 1 or Fox 2. The Pies game is scheduled for 9:30AM tomorrow (Friday) morning--Fox Sports Plus. If you have not seen Aussie Rules give it a shot--you will like it. Fox should be having other games over the w/e.
I'm hunting for toilet paper for the first time in my life.
where do you live ? They had it at the grocery store near my office this week

I'll give you guys a funny story with legit life lessons. Sunday between 3-4 Nathalie and I were driving and I said lets make 1 last stop before we go home just to top off some grocery stuff. I said lets try the supermarket in huntington station that's pretty much like the spanish supermarket because generally I'm the only gringo ever there. I'm sure they willl have stuff because Latin and South Americans ( no offense to any here ) never plan for anything. Heck in Peru they buy that nights food at the grocery store that day.

Anyway we go there and there might have been 5 people shopping TOTAL in the store.

They had plenty of toilet paper, bread pasta canned food everything. EXCEPT Chicken. Not 1 shred of chicken in the whole store.

3 life lessons you can take from this.

Spanish people LOVE Chicken
White people are the hoarders
White people ( except me ) are afraid to shop in huntington station

Interesting MJM... you're logic is sound...

My wife is only half Puerto Rican.... so this explains why she stocked up on extra chicken

"Heck in Peru they buy that nights food at the grocery store that day." I receive frequent lectures from "she who must be obeyed" that the more processed food we eat, the worse off we are. The village market in Peru or Provence or Toscana probably has far healthier and more nutritious choices.
