Welcome Van Macon

Welcome van Macon, great addition.
If they know borman will be the last ac, why cant they just announce it?
Against ncaa rules for a ac to coach an auu team with high prospects?

Perhaps he won’t be.

Just love this hire. Previous assistant at Rutgers & Hofstra, named one of top 100 ACs in 2012. Played ball at Nassau Community and Southampton college with degree in English Lit. from Southampton. Talk about a well rounded guy! During my summers in Hampton Bays in the late 1970s we used to sneak into Southampton College pool during the week...lol
We are going to love this staff!

Van Macon met with Mike Anderson Friday, and was offered the job. He accepted. Nothing official expected today, I'm told. They had talked multiple times about opening before today. #sjubb

Anderson is thorough for sure.
Providence does very good job with two recruiters, one covers Northeast & other in the South, primarily Virginia. Anderson is smartly developing a similar approach. Exciting times. Love these late FridayJohnny news dumps!

Exciting times...
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”

Best of times
Age of wisdom
Epoch of belief
Epoch of incredulity

I firmly believe Charles Dickens was (fearless) forecasting St. John’s circa 2019
lol
All the best

Excellent hire!! Just with TJ and Macon alone this is the best staff we have had in quite sometime anything else is gravy! Good times ahead!

Welcome Mr Macom. Finally, a coach building a solid program from the ground up. 2 great choices for assistants. Fun times ahead

No surprise that CMA, an experienced head men’s basketball coach has hired assistants with solid D1 experience.

It is refreshing to have an experienced coach at StJohn’s that knows what he is doing and has a strong work ethic.

.... the train has left the station.

This is the type of hire we needed to make the last few times. Finally seem to have gotten it right even if after some tripping over ourselves.

Sad truth is I’m sure we’d hear a lot more about it if it was thought to be a bad hire. Welcome aboard coach Macon and welcome home.
OUT........STANDING!!!! Just a great hire!!!
Do you mind explaining why?

Pat Riley?

Don’t mean to derail the optimism train, but wasn’t everybody elated when Mullin hired Slice and Matt A?

That said, I appreciate the insights and am very hopeful that CMA can turn this ship around. I’m just struggling a bit to get very excited until I start seeing results. Seems like under the best if scenarios, that won’t be for a couple more years.

Are you speaking of anyone in particular or just a general observation?
