Welcome Nick Rutherford !

A non sexy but very important piece of the puzzle for next season. A very good defender, tough, hard nosed pg who gets in the lane. As opposed to grabbing random pieces this staff understands that you need to have a style of play, a system , and are going after players that fit in with what they want to do. Makes me feel much better about next season. I truly like that the staff did not panic and grab the first to want to come aboard but rather waited until they got the missing piece required.
Patience is a virtue.
If Heron and Figgy can average 35 points a game together which is very possible and all 10 other players can average 4 ppg we can be in good shape next season.
I think just as important is developing a legitimate 3rd option who’s at least a threat to get double digits on occasion. Whether it’s Wright, Williams, or a front court player, Rutherford should help keeping them in the right position and getting them the ball.
Have to think Wright is the wild card.
My guess is, between Wright and Williams (both very athletic), whoever shoots better will play more minutes.

Anderson is very much a defense first coach. Methinks posters are going to have to move away from looking only at offensive stats to evaluate players Anderson is interested in.

Zagoria
.@StJohnsBBall makes the Nick Rutherford grad transfer official

Coach is going to spread the minutes out. Unlike last year I do not think any player will average more then 30 minutes.

Yes I hope we spread it out. Obviously depends upon how they take to the system.

Certainly you can choose to move away from offensive stats, especially unimpressive ones at a mid major, but I sure as hell am not. But hey, to each his own.

He was a middling MAAC PG. I just want him to be steady with the ball, play defense and get others involved. Not expecting Erick Barkley here.

Not expecting great offensive numbers. But if he is a floor general, handles the ball and passes well and plays D, he would have done his job as a 1 year filler. Time will tell.

His numbers were better at his 1st stop in a more uptempo offense, at Monmouth it was a slower more deliberate offense

I believe I said “looking only” so I never suggested moving away from them, just not looking at them exclusively. But hey, to each his own; me, I try to remember there are two sides of the ball. There are also roles on a team, which can affect or dictate statistics. But hey, stick to your video game evaluation of players before you actually see them play, it makes the negativity so much easier.

My money is on Steere than Wright and as u will see Carraher can play as well.... plus I expect contributions from Williams & Roberts as well... if we can get our hands on another big or a legit scorer we are going to a lot better than people think IMHO.

Go Redmen!!

Who’s being negative? I’m not evaluating him. I simply said I’m not overlooking his midmajor stats, that’s all. Like I said before, to each his own. But, unfortunately, that concept seems to be lost on you.
