Welcome John McGriff

Jonathan, we are thrilled to have you on board and look forward to watching you help our Johnnies "storm" forward to new heights over the next few years!

Kid's got an incredible handle to state the obvious, fakes guys out of their shoes, and also has a very nice jumper.
A great late 'get'.
Welcome to St. John's young man.

Neither

I know nothing about this kid, including his height, but the fact that you say this makes me think he is too short. Just how short are we talking?;)

Kid played at the highest prep level last year.
No doubt he would've been a 4 to 5 star recruit if he was a few inches taller.
Whatever. All that matters is the 5 inches between his eyebrows and the top of his head, to bastardize Tom Konchalski.

So where did he come from so quickly after a new coach was named?

As others have said this seems like the type of kid we never recruited in the past that ended up going to Creighton/Butler/Xavier etc and becoming a very good player in the Big East, and had us wondering why we never bothered recruiting them. Welcome aboard JM!

St. John's has landed three-star PG Jon McGriff, he tells me. "When I talked to Coach Anderson, he was big on having a lot of heart. Me having a chip on my shoulders, eveything I’ve been through, that's who I am. I’m ready to come in and ready to compete and play." #sjubb

I know they’re hype videos but they’re kind of impressive. His ball handling looks excellent and his ability to get the ball in the hoop near the basket for his height is encouraging. Also, he can dunk so he must have some serious hops.

Lastly, this is the kind of PG guys like Heron and, hopefully, Figueroa can thrive with. They should be licking their chops with a 1 guard like this, even at freshman.

24/7 Sports has us as having 4 point guards including McGiff. Would like to know who the other 3 are.

You're probably looking at "offers," instead of "commits."

Heading says roster outlook so I take that to mean they think we have 4 pgs and one is a new commit but who knows.

Welcome!

I would normally merge this with the recruiting thread (and eventually will), but it's noteable enough to leave it here for now.
