Welcome Brandon Gardner

Been saying consistently on this site that MSG is one of the best recruiting tools we have. This commitment proves it. Enough of the comments about scheduling games at other venues. We need more games at MSG, not less. Hopefully this commitment and the others that will follow will move the administration to do that. Onward and upward!
More games indeed

Maybe now we can put that ridiculous oft-used notion/excuse to rest that kids don't care about MSG and don't want to play in NYC?
I don't understand the correlation but it's a good day. That said I never thought kids didn't care about MSG or to play in NYC, they didn't want to play there for free vs getting paid to play elsewhere. ;)

Been very fortunate to get to know Brandon and his family over the last 4-5 months. When I tell you this kid is amazing, I mean it. His mother is a saint and has raised him right. He's going to be a fan favorite with his play and how he carries himself off the court.

I was fortunate to get to sit down with Brandon for a few minutes talking about his commitment yesterday. Put out the episode this morning. Thanks to Paultzman for sharing a clip earlier. Here's the link to the full podcast episode about 10 minutes.

Tomorrow I have an episode coming out where Zach Braziller of the NY Post joined me to break this commitment down and what it means for this program. Super insightful. Hope you all enjoy.

it's an amazing day in Queens...super thrilled for the Gardner family!

That’s awesome info

Wow.....cut from his 7th grade team.

Great job, Dave! I really appreciate your work.

I'm not surprised that you don't understand ☺️. In spite of not understanding, you reinforced my point. It was never about kids not caring about playing at MSG, not wanting to be in NYC, our facilities, etc. It may have been about money, it may have been about our not having a true recruiter since Matt left, it may have been both and other things. It was never about any of the excuses many fans(not saying you) made. I hate to say "I told you so". Nah, actually, I love to say it 😂

wonderful news as been on the road today--thanks to the St. Johns Fans who showed him the love during the Nova game at MSG as Brandon also credited them for the recruiting effort; now lets get everyone doing that at every game. Transfering into CTK might run into CHSSA transfer issues.

rumor is Gardener just might get me air conditioning at CA by junior year. I'll pay for his statue if that happens

Love the fact that we beat out Auburn and LSU among other top programs to secure the services of Mr. Gardner (Alabama also showed heavy interest and their fanbase was very disappointed to lose out on BG).
I was told overtime was a contender in the final 5 also (they named a final 4 in articles but a fifth was going pro) So yes this is a very very big win. Staff's hard work paying off

Great get by Coach Mike and staff. It seems like ever since the NIL started, our recruiting has picked up tremendously. Could the NIL have saved Johnnies basketball?
Interesting thought. Could be the substitute of the “stipend” we had before the dorms. But a lot if goes to the coaching staff. Anderson shutting down the critics who said a southern coach cannot recruit nyc.

Been down in Avalon NJ since Saturday celebrating my wife and my birthdays with all our kids and their significant others; only saw this great news late yesterday afternoon. Welcome Barndon can't wait to see you on the court next year! Sounds like you might be working on getting a few talented friends to join you. The more the merrier is all I can say. Staff having a super off season
