We Found A Point Guard

Sadly, this thread should have been about getting a known quantity at point guard in 2010 rather than 2013.
Gambling on Nurideen Lindsey set this program back a couple of years!
The best option at the point at the time and one that Lavin and Chiles should have pursued with aggressiveness was Chazz Williams from Bishop Ford. He was the epitome of a city pg that became available after deciding to leave Hofstra.

I'm not doubting RJ's talent, and he played well yesterday. But is it possible Lavin gave him the 2nd half minutes (and a lot in 1st half) was to display for Mr. Briscoe that he would get ample PT when/if he decides to attend SJU ?

CO is a offensive liability. When he is playing it is like we have 4 players on offense! Sometimes I question whether he should be in the lineup!

Really? Did you notice the change in momentum and the change in the game when CO was subbed out for Sampson? Nothing against Sampson at all as he is a great player, but the Cuse players were clearly steered away from the hoop when CO was in the game. It is blatant that the opponents are well aware of CO's shot blocking capabilities and that gives a HUGE advantage on defense. No one, I mean no one in today's college game wants to be on the receiving end a huge rejection. Especially on center stage in the garden. I don't like to blame coaches ever, but that substitution clearly sent us in the wrong direction.

Personally, I am leaning toward a lineup of Sanchez, Sampson, Harrison, Jordan and Pointer. As much as I enloy Obepka's blocking ability I am not enthused with his lack of scoring. Afterall, how many pumps does it take before he puts up a shot? Look, he's not a weak specimen but seems to have trouble putting back offensive rebounds.

I don't like the title of this thread. Jordan looked great, and I think when all is said and done he's the most talented player on the roster.
But, we already had a point guard: Branch. Taking nothing away from Jordan and D'angelo - I'm big fans of both of them. But I firmly believe that Branch's under-use is hurting this team.

Sheed is not the reason for this.

Greene is averaging 25 MPG.

Look no further than that.

Always thought there was a love affair between coach and Greene but pleasantly surprised to see Lavin sit Phil yesterday.

The part of Jordan's game I was most impressed with today was his defense!! He did an excellent job pressuring the ball, did a better job on Fair than Pointer, and rebounded the ball well. His play was the most positive takeaway from today's game and I look for him to improve every game.

Thought Pointer gave Fair too much room to get off his jumper. Afterall, he should have expected help if Fair drove around him. And let's remember Fair goes one way to his left. Those jumpers especially hurt us at the end.

My biggest take-away from this game was this kid's performance. We will go as far as he takes us. He was getting in the lane at will and he drew contact every.single.time. He started the game timid and unsure. Nobody on this team can do what he does.

did you make the florida party today ?

No, I was running behind. I had to DVR the game and I was tempted to check my phone the entire time to see the final score.

ahh too bad. we had a little post game thing here. finally got to meet golden leaf. great guy

Thought Golden Leaf was from Virginia.

Hell of a pressure game to have Jordan breakout offensively. Now I want to see him pop some three pointers. He's been feeling his way each game, hesitant to drive and take open jumpers. The sky is the limit with this kid. As I've said before he's our top recruit, stick with him.

I think Jordan is the real deal and think that Lavin was right to ride him in 2nd half...

But, did you see some of the passes that Branch made yesterday...should have been 3 easy buckets

It was after the game at the old irish times. I think it's called the thirsty fan now

Loved Jordan's performance yesterday -- who wouldn't? -- and he has an enormous up side, especially his ability to penetrate, but he has to put up better shooting numbers than a .255 FG percentage; and .100 from three-point range before I'd dub him "the real deal."

I'm sure Alfredo and Conor were all up in each others faces watching football and battling over the Toilet Bowl title.

A bunch of great guys. You can usually find us post gaming there so if you ever are looking for a drink after a game that's generally where we can be found except for weeknight games when I'm rushing to catch the train home. In cases like that sometimes we might be pre gaming there instead :)

Agreed, I thought the same thing. With shot blockers in the game, Dom should have played up on Fair. He deserves credit for hitting the shots, but Fair seemed to be the only guy with open looks on either side in the last few minutes.

Very good observation. I was less than 50 feet away when Fair was left wide open by Pointer on the right corner and everyone saw that shot coming except Dom who lost him on defense. People actually yelled FAIR to get his attention. Just one of many mental mistakes made by us in the final minutes. One could see the frustration on the face of the coaches after that shot.
