Virginia Game

Phil - you came to ball today. Good game. One of the only tolerable johnnies to watch. Your game is developing every day and exciting to watch.
Obekpa - good D. Chippy calls against you and being dragged into the Oscars. Nice cool head. Gotta spend more time in the gym on the offensive post.
Amir - you owe me a new TV after I threw my coffee mug at it. Weak side offensive boards are the only game here.
Jakar/Dom - foul trouble was tough, but underwhelming games. Two bright spots of this team for next year.
Marco - air ball, really? Gotta move without the ball, not just stand in the corner. Also, please don't dribble. Ever.
Chris Jones - play big on the boards. That's your game.
Jamal - grow some cojones and trust your game. Get inside and bang it out. Work on your shot!!!

I hope to God that I never hear another " they refuse to pass to Marco" post. His shooting has been atrocious---and every other part of his game has been worse. I hope things aren't as fast for him next year.

Stop knocking Pil for his shooting numbers because he is the only player with the heart to take a big shot when we need it. Dom does it occasinally, but not consistently.

Obekpa has improved trmendously on the boards. He is becoming a good rebounder. He needs to work on his offensive moves over the Summer. The refs did their best to take him out of the game today.

Amir is brutal to watch. I like him and hope he really works to improve his game.

Jakarr needs to get stronger and play inside more. He settles for the jumper way too much. Otherwise, we desperately need to bring in some muscle to help CO down low. Hope Christian Jones makes a leap next year.

Put the balls away.. i hope those who think this group will be better next year, the question is why?

It's not negative posting to express dissatisfaction with awfully played Basketball..

The refs had zero to do with the outcome and, the Vegas line even less. Look no further than our own players and Coaches ..

If they showed even an ounce of improvement in this game today, you could take heart for next year but, there wasn't a flicker of making the game competitive.

And, Virginia is as young as we are! So, Steve stop the BS ABOUT IT!

Fouling with almost 3 minutes left down 3 possessions is a really dumb move. You need stops, not giving them free points. I guess I was right about Vegas wanting Virginia to win by double digits. The last few minutes were pretty shady.

Keady seemed very upbeat in post game radio interview. He talked about how they liked the kids they have and they are all very receptive to teaching. He talked about how it takes time to build a program and they are looking forward to working with the team over the summer and having a good season next year.

Having highly ranked recruits isn't always the end-all, be-all.

Especially if you have no clue how to coach them.

The bleeding has stopped, mercifully. Unbelievable season. The team showed tons more heart last year.

If all of us can see that we need shooters why can't the coaches see that with recruiting. I am puzzled by that.
Also can we run an offense with some plays against a zone? Drive to hoop do anything but dribble & pass for 25 secs around zone

Because Lavin thinks he can just "out-athlete" every team in the Big East. The recruiting philosophy is just puzzling. Every player has the exact same skillset. It's easy to chase big time recruits. Everyone sees them and knows who they are.

It's another thing to be able to find those complimentary players. The recruits who fit.

That being said, no matter who you have, you've got to be able to put them in the best positions to excel.

I think Steve thought he had a shooter in Marco, but that's not the case.

maybe Hooper will be that guy, but I sure wish we could add another shooter, but the numbers don't work.

I think with the added size next year in Sanchez and GG, and with Branch healthy and here for the full year, and Harrison back more matured, we should be much better. We will still struggle from outside.

you cant win if you cant score.....and dont like holding ball until theres 5 sec on shot clock....take as many shots as possible..preferably inside the 3 pt line, where its less guarded

There needs to be some metamorphosis to this team in the off season. I have not witnessed anything in this game nor the previous 10 that suggest we will be really good next year. We know what D Lo is and Sanchez is supposed to be good, but we still suffer at the guard position. It is hard to win without very good guard play. Trust me, I'm a guard. Hope Lavin and company will get these guys ready and bring in some chemistry guys.

BINGO!!!
You need good, smart guards to win at this level
Many NCAA teams have been very successful with 3 or 4 guards on the floor and only 1-2 forwards
We desperately need a true PG whose primary function is to run the team and distribute the ball
We don't have anyone like that on our current roster. I hoped that Branch would be that guy. He has been a major disappointment.
We have guys on our roster that are not BE caliber players (Bourgault and Balamou immediately come to mind)
Lavin ia a very good recruiter, a great PR guy and wonderful "face" for the program - certainly an upgrade over Roberts
However, the longer he is here, the more you see that the "whispers" that he is not a good coach have some real validity

I almost want SJU to lose so this board won't be filled with the constant whining. It is an absolute joke.

I said almost by the way, because this place will be filled with whining nitwits no matter what the season or thread.

By the way, these refs suck.

It's the same old story

Similar to your posts that regurgitates the same thing. Being verbose doesn't get your point across any differently. It's still the very, same stuff that has been said for the past 2 or 3 months.

I believe most posters knew this teams limitations without you presenting it, ad nauseum, game in and game out. Trust me! You're not saying anything groundbreaking. Most here get it already.

I didn't want the Johnnies to lose.... But similar to kransmars, I'm kinda glad the season is now over.

Not having any inside info, I would bet it's even money that GG doesn't play for us next year
I can see him graduating in May and using his last year of eligibility elsewhere next season

Hooper is better than Bourgault, but I don't expect Hooper to log many minutes. I think he'll get anywhere from 10-15 minutes a game.

Like I've said before, if he gets anymore than that, then he's obviously gotten much better or we're gonna be in trouble.

It's great to be optimistic and hope but, there were many here that thought Roberts was making progress in his 6 years..
Lavin deserves 1 more year and a NCAA bid should be the benchmark. IF not, he should be gone..

The only ones on here who thought Norm was making progress in his 6 years were his family and friends who made accounts on here last minute to post propaganda trying to save his job.

Many of us supported him years 1-4 (myself included) and defended him. I will give Coach Lavin the same time frame.

I also think next year is a failure if they don't win at least 22 games during the regular season or if they dont make the NCAAs. If one of those don't get acomplished, I'll be much more critical of our Coach. Give him a real chance!

Like you said is a little old, Have you manage to dislocate your shoulder

Hooper is better than Bourgault

Have you ever seen Hooper play?

If not then how can you say he is better than anyone?

If you have seen Hooper play then what were your impressions?

Thanks.
