Hope we don't suffer let down coming off high of beating Puke. Since Mullin has used the Nick Saban term the process I hope he also subscribes to the 24 hour celebration rule then it is on to the next game. Believe it or not that rule also applied after Bama won the National Championship as applied to the underclassmen even though the next game ins't for 8 months. School and conditioning was on the menu 24 hours after winning the natty. BTW wears Monte been?
I just hope nobody gets upset if we inevitably get blown out. The fact is, Villanova has blown out just about every other team in the Big East by double digit points, including likely tournament teams Providence and Creighton by 20, and Xavier by 24. The best we can hope for is that our kids give their all the whole game, which we know they will do. Any result that follows that really shouldn't matter.
Undermanned as we are, we’ve been blown out by Providence (at home), DePaul (of all teams at home), and Butler (away). Otherwise, we’ve hung tough versus the Hall, Creighton 2x, Xavier 2x, G*Town 2x, and Nova (MSG).
So, I hear you, but there’s no quit in this team and you never know.
We shall see.

We better come ready to stop their three pointers or it's going to be a long night. All five starters can hit the three. If my memory serves me right we caused quite a few turnovers at the garden. Divencenzo (sp) ( the Jordan of Delaware ) kills us.

I know this is a pipe dream, but hey dreams are great to have until reality sets in.
Imagine beating #1 Villanova in Philly, in a 5 day period beating #4 in MSG in front of all those recruits, then going to #1 Villanova and everyone saying it's back to reality for SJU. Then going out there and just some how, some way, pulls it off.
That would be freaking insane, like a storybook ending, then beat Marq, and seeing ourselves at 2-11 in the getting votes section (Is that even possible?)
Then yeah, dream is over and back to reality. Oh well, it was nice to dream.

Results do matter, however ,at this junction in our season just making the game close is a win. Next yr will be our coming out party I know we beat DUKE,and it was a great win but if we played them another 3 games this season odds are we would lose all three LETS JUST GO OUT AND PLAY ALL REMAINING GAMES CLOSE AND NO BLOWOUTS WOULD BE A BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT THIS YR
Agree that a win at Nova is a lot to ask for. However, no reason we can't take 3 or 4 of our last 6 after that (DePaul, Marquette twice, Seton Hall, Butler & Providence). Would be great for recruiting, not to mention for the core guys returning next year, if we can finish the season strong.

In the 1968-69 season we played 3 of the top 5 teams in the country in the span of maybe 2 weeks: beat North Carolina (with Charlie Scott) at MSG, lost to UCLA (Lew Alcindor) at MSG, beat Davidson (Mike Maloy) on the road. That's similar to this current stretch. I might have even have the newspaper clippings from that season somewhere. All three of those stars were from NYC. (Although I thought Maloy was from LI...Wikipedia says otherwise).

If we come close to losing by 10 points I will consider this a victory! I'm hoping that this works out as well as my wish for the Duke outcome.
I've been a big staff critic all season but the way they're holding the team together deserves kudos. Never has a saying been more meaningful than "it's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game".
