Hey the loss was disappointing but not completely unexpected. Nova is a tough out at home, ask Yukon. I’m still proud of these guys and there’s lots of season ahead. Obviously Sundays game is important if we dare to dream of a regular season conference championship but I’m still thrilled the way the season has unfolded.

Lots more excitement ahead….. Go Johnnies.

Nova is the kind of team Smith is perfect for and yes, Zuby got handled by their big man. This game had trouble written all over it and Vegas knew. Factor in giving up the most points we’ve probably given up since Baylor, it was a recipe for a loss.

We’re 21-4, playing for first place on Sunday in our place and we still almost won tonight. Let’s go.

By your logic, Pitino did not learn anything either because he was fine with the play. Wilcher had a good look and he hit one the last possession. Going for the win on the road.
So ask yourself this question, what has a better chance of scoring? A Kadary drive and pull up mid range shot, a Luis mid range or a “rushed” and it was, Wilcher three? If you picked the latter, I don’t know what to tell u.

The Smith thing is worrisome. I don’t think I’m worried about Zuby but…he’s one more game away from being in a slump.

Just box score looking, we didn’t have Deivon, RJ had zero points in first half, and Zuby had only two all game. Somehow we were up with 27 seconds left.

The 10-0 run in just a minute is special and shows the upside of this team. Truly a championship team two minutes that I haven’t seen before from a Johnnies team.

Hopefully Sim and Scott gain confidence from tonight, and the guys have an extra pep in their step Sunday.

The thing is though, Novas big is probably the weakest in the league and I’m not talking about Dixon.

Wilcher made a huge 3 that could have been the game.

Villanova answered with a huge three.

With 8.7 and the clock running down, I thought Kadary gave up on a one on one with the middle cleared out and Wilcher had a co tested look. I thought Wilcher could have penetrated deeper once his man jumped out at him. Instead he gave his man room to recover and made Wilch double pump a low % shot.

No negativity here in a great season, but I think the play was designed well to give Kadary room to go one on one, but he appeared uncomfortable and gave it up.

With Creighton losing last night, Sunday could have put some daylight between us and the pack.

Hey, this is what makes rhe Big East a great league and kudos to Villanova for clawing back into the postseason picture when it looked like Neptune might not survive the season.

Onward.

That was a winnable game, and St. John's completely blew it. Villanova is not the same powerhouse they've been in past years, and yet we still let them outplay us when it mattered most. The offense was stagnant, too many bad shots, and once again, we had stretches where we couldn’t score. The ball movement was nonexistent at times, and we let Villanova dictate the pace instead of attacking them.

Defensively, we had moments where we looked solid, but overall, we gave them way too many open looks from three. Second-chance points absolutely killed us. How many times are we going to give up offensive rebounds and let teams reset? Villanova isn’t even a great rebounding team, but they made us pay.

That being said, we still have a great shot to be an amazing team. The talent is there, and when we’re locked in, we can beat anyone. But we absolutely cannot allow losses like this to happen again. Every game matters, and if we want to be taken seriously in March, we have to take care of business against teams like this. No more excuses—time to step up and play with the urgency we know we’re capable of. Let’s get it together and make a statement moving foraWrd.

I’m beyond upset with this team right now. This was a golden opportunity to solidify our tournament resume, and instead, we go into Villanova and completely lay an egg. How many times are we going to watch this team fall flat in a big road game?

The offense was stagnant, the defense had breakdowns at the worst possible moments, and once again, we let a winnable game slip away. Where was the urgency? Where was the fight? Villanova is not a great team this year, but we made them look like world-beaters.

The bench was non-existent, the rotations were questionable, and we played like a team that expected to just show up and win. Rick Pitino is a Hall of Famer, but even he has to be furious with how sloppy and uninspired this team looked. We were in position to win this game, and we completely blew it.

This team needs to wake up fast. The Big East isn’t getting any easier, and performances like this will have us sweating on Selection Sunday instead of feeling confident. I don’t care how good we’ve looked at times this season—losses like this cannot happen if we want to be taken seriously.

Embarrassing.
This is the dumbest post I'll read all night. Which is saying something.
