He didn't even make contact! Arcidiacono should be thrown out of the game. What a loser.

Talk about a bitch

He'd have been the perfect dookie.

Speaking of Duke, it didn't take coach K long to scream at the refs once Virginia started to pull away in the first half. There are two faces I can't stand to look at - Allen (Duke) and Archidiacono (Nova).

StJohn's is a well coached team with limited talent..... many teams with the number of successive losses would merely "mail it in".

Limited talent, yes. Well coached? Judge that next year.[/quote

Yes coaching not much of a factor this yr Coaching will start to be judged next yr witout any passes for a bad job

Otis with his blinders on as usual.

Even though we knew it was going to be bad, as a fan it still got tough to watch. The losing is unprecedented but I am just going back to rooting and not worrying about next year. Next year will come soon enough I really hope the kids can somehow get a win.

BTW we stink so you are going to get hosed but this is getting ridiculous. Did Mullin do something to the BE refs?

2ND BTW that dunk contest was sick!!

might be the craziest dunk I have ever seen

Two problems that stand out this season:
1. The worst passing team at St.John's ever
2. Low basketball IQ
A big plus for these kids:
We know they won't give up. This is spelled out by Fox announcers during each game.

I'd go
1. We are not very good
2. The refs hate us

We v stayed close and I thought musinI should have gotten more minutes and more 3 point opportunities

I'm not sure but it seems pretty clear that he did a bunch of gross stuff to their wives.

In addition to the Thank You link, I suggest that redmen.com also had a lol button. I'm not looking to thank fun for that post, but it was hysterical and made me laugh

Mussini missed 2 wide open looks from 3 early.. He has missed a bunch of those lately. At this point in the season, Ellison a better option. He is improving, while Mussini, because of the crazy minutes and his body type, is regressing.

Malik Ellison is looking much better, looking to prove his doubters wrong!

i have been a doubter...would agree that he is starting to show flashes...

Ellison is looking better and Mussini is lost out there....whether tired, out of position etc. He's just over matched and his ball handling is weak... off season can't come soon enough for him to retool and recharge.

Ali B....enjoy watching him play a lot.

Killed on TO's and FT'S but guys held there own.

Good job.
Mussini appears worn down and confidence is shot...his best efforts came on days when he was shooting and hitting very long three's where he had space...he is passing up a lot of those shots now...he'll be fine...probably needs to get away and recharge as you say...right now, he doesn't have the physical attributes that would allow him to contribute in other ways (drives, defense etc...) that might give him a boost...

I think he will be fine once he settles into a role that fits him and isn't among the opposition's keys to shutting down St. John's

Nice efforts on the part of Allie and Ellison, as evidenced by the playing time they both had tonight. Good decision by Mullin to stay with Ellison despite his poor start early in the season. The kid is improving and not afraid to take it to the basket. Good game for his dad to see.

Even better decision to stay with Alibegovic...My take on him is he is either very hot or very cold...I would insert him early in game, get a chance to see whether we will see the hot or cold version and use accordingly...while you can say that about a lot of players, Alibegovic seems to have a pattern...he has one of the better shooting forms on the team..when his shooting stroke is rushed, he clangs it...when he completes the stroke from start to finish, he is servicable

While effort does count for something the final score is very deceiving. Every time we crept to within striking distance our possessions were horrible examples of competitive ball. Bad shot selection, out of control charges to the hoops, forced shots, turnovers, and inability to make 5 foot shots characterized those possessions. Definitely a lack of talent but also not a sign of a well coached team. credit to our staff for getting these guys to bust it but on the other hand the goal of a well coached team is getting a good look when it counts and our guys dont do that often enough.

The silver liniing is the young guys decision making will improve as the games slows down for them and hence the passing should improve...and the low BB IQ is mostly associated with the upperclassmen who will be gone

Agree BE but also think that our lack of good upperclass guys really hurts us...they are the prime culprits...Johnson has no conscience (especially for someone with a terrible stroke), Balamou rarely passes and Mvouika is incapable of driving to the basket yet tries to do so and forces so many off balance heaves...

Mullin's post game comments at least point to fact that he believes we need to get our share of layups and fouls shots -- and not simply rely on the 3 ball...

One thing I forgot to mention that appeared to be a good strategy that was executed well by Alibegovic was the decision to play him on Arcidiacano...although I didn't focus on every possession, when I did he stayed committed to watching him, almost face guarding him away from the ball and, as a result, Arci remained scoreless for a good portion of game...

Testament to giving a kid an assignment and then insisting that they remain committed to it while trusting their teammates to own their assignment...Not annointing Ali a star...he did a good job today

definitely see potential in Ellison

As founder of the Ellison fan club I thank you for the compliment

i definitely spoke too soon regarding ellison. he has stepped up for the team over the last few games. shot needs a lot of work, but he drives hard to the net. i really like what i'm seeing out of him.

as for mussini, i don't know what is going on. kid has done a complete 180. he looks lost on the court and you can clearly see his confidence is just not there anymore. could be that he hit a wall, but it's very concerning to me.

As many posters have noted, Mussini just got worn down. Hopefully playing off the ball in complementary role like the Brady Heslips of the world will work for him next season. Very rarely do freshman guards come in at this level & do very well, let alone someone as frail & inexperienced at PG as Mussini. My hope is all the young kids come back next year stronger, more skilled & prepared to once again go against upper class kids most BE teams will be blessed with.
