Villanova (MSG), Wed., Jan. 24, 8:30p, FS-1

Decided to look into Nova’s 6-25 from 3 shooting night to see if they were just missing open 3s or if our guys did a good job contesting.

Full game is on YouTube and looked up the ESPN pbp to find when they took their shots. Took about 5-10 mins to go through the first half.

Quality might be crappy but attached the pics here. Might do the 2nd half in a little bit. They were 3-14 in the first half

Over under as of yesterday on the stout pregame event total was 189

If Jenkins is out over under on stout pre game drunk total is 175

I don't think it matters in either direction if your just provided your honest assessment of a player or your team. It's the best thing for them either way. They don't need to be told they're better or worse than they are. They're going to benefit more from hearing the truth and not somebody who has an agenda b/c they're trying to keep the kid in school instead of going overseas or they have a handler they have to keep happy.

Mug is going to be hired as some team's video coordinator, for sure.

Every team misses shots (Except Bill Walton@UCLA in Tourny and Nova '85 vs. Georgetown), but as in tennis an open miss is an Unforced Miss, a hotly contested miss is a Forced Miss.

I watched us beat Nova at the Finn and I thought it was more Unforced Misses that Forced Misses, that is not with video just the Eyeball Test.

No one has said anything about Jenkins not playing.

This time of year one of the most important metrics college basketball handicappers look at is 3 point regression on both ends of the floor. If a team is generally giving up open 3s to their opponents but are top 25-50ish in the country in 3pt% against, handicappers are going to start betting against that team as eventually it's going to catch up to them and the percentage will begin to regress to back where it should be.

This can happen on a super micro level, ie what happened Saturday where Marquette was 0-10 in the first half and then lit the nets up in the 2nd half to regress back to the mean, or can happen on a more macro level over the course of first half vs second half of the season.

That said, percentages alone can't tell the whole story, obviously quality of player + defense are major factors. That's why shotquality.com is a pretty revolutionary site as it accounts for all of that stuff, and why it costs $1,500 per season.
