Got it. No credit to our defense.
When teams go on runs, it’s because we’re lazy on D. When teams shoot poorly, it’s because their shots rim out.

Soriano went for 20 and 8, Ledlum is back for this matchup, and Zuby has been improving steadily and contributing, but Dixon at 6’6 is a problem? Seems like they have a problem matching up with us. In Philly, they couldn’t even get the ball in bounds.

Who do you trust more making adjustments, Neptune or Pitino?

In the same breath, Ledlum is playing in this one for SJU as well - two big vital pieces back for both teams
No Alleyne who played amazing the first game. Also, Dunlap scored 15...not likely to be repeated.

There is definitely a path to victory. Soriano absolutely ate up Dixon in the first game. Dingle could get 20 if he's actually given good looks. Dunlap repeating his performance would be huge. If you told me right now that Dingle and Soriano got 35 shots combined, I'd say we won.

Still think it's a very good but not great bet to take Nova +2.5.

Yup. Bill Parcells was one of the best!
Parcells told Simms every team has to have some Rats, some guys with nastiness, someone who is off his rocker a bit, but when the sounds goes off on Game Day, they bring fire and intensity until the horn sounds ending the game.

You want to credit our defense for him missing a bunch of wide open shots? Were they yelling mean things at him and distracting him?:D
In fairness, historically Dixon has used his collection of old-man moves to get his fair share of points inside against Soriano. Last game, Soriano absolutely shut him down inside which is why Dixon eventually spent so much time on the perimeter (which also cleared the lane for Bamba, who was effective going to the hoop).

Dixon can hit shots from the outside, but there's no question that Nova wants and needs his production down low and Soriano took that away from him.

Path to victory is go in the paint early and often

Not to nitpick, but the person most responsible for holding Dixon to 4-18 in the first game was Dixon. He has wide open on the perimeter all night and at least 3 of his three's were halfway down and rimmed out (He went 2-10 from three). He can shoot it from out there, so it will be interesting to see how coach deals with that other than "put Joel out in space where he's a disaster defensively". Might see a lot of Zuby tomorrow.
Gee , if Dixon was on our team and shot 4-18, can you imagine what Marillac 2 would be calling him ? It’s not printable on a Site that represents a Catholic Univ .
