Villanova (MSG), Sat., Jan. 11 , 7p, CBSSN

Nice post. I agree up to your last sentence. While I am a fan of Wright, as he is all class, I have a hard time picking Villanova as my second favorite Big East team.

And it isn’t so much a knock on them or their fans (although the KnickNova stuff is grating), I just cannot have a second favorite team that I want to knock the snot out of every year.

So what you're saying is you don't have a second favorite team at all. ;)

Or he's not yet fully confident taking those 3s he can get off PNR, preferring instead to the drive, hesitation, and shorter pull up midrange.
The PnR 3 is probably something for next year with him. He needs to get himself in rhythm and it seems the mid to long 2’s are where he can get into it off the bounce now — and needs plenty of space.

The onky one I want shooting off the dribble from 3 is oddly Deivon.

KNOWER OF BALL!

ill say it again. We Will Sweep UConn
Love the confidence but can’t say I’m quite there yet

I’m building confidence in this group, but the 3pt thing will be an interesting thing to watch throughout the season. We may be better than UConn in some aspects this year, but I can’t shake the thought that we’re going to run into some games where the other team just simply has it going from 3. If that happens, would we have the firepower to hang in?

I am along for the ride regardless, but I am going to each game with a healthy respect for the opponent if they have some shooters. UConn is a good example of that.

As is Nova.

Not going to post a full paywall article but

“There’s an energy and a blue-collar pride to this team that I think people are starting to pick up on,” says Ed Kull. “I think the most-loved basketball teams in this city — the Knicks, St. John’s, whoever — always seem to play that way. You know you’re getting an honest effort every night out. I sense that with our guys.”

Quotes like that show that Kull gets it. His glowing of the Garden also makes you imagine he understands the value of playing more games there in the future. If Pitino can keep this up next year, hopefully we're looking at more Fri/Sat/Sun as well.
Great post. Agree weekend (especially afternoon) is the prime time for best attendance. Early games also draw more families (next generation of SJU fans). Knicks / Rangers could still play at night. Hope this is the direction for next season.

Yeah, until UConn came back.

Well that little s* can own this league, until Rick has all the pieces that he needs, then he'll punk Hurley, and tell Danny: " I own this league, and I will continue to own it until I retire."

So help me God, you know it must killed Rick to lose all 3 games to that whiney lil s*.

Sorry but when I think of Danny my blood boils
The term “must-win” gets thrown around too loosely here. Important game yes, but must-win by definition implies that if we lose the season is over.
Yeah it sucks to have that pressure on us, that we gotta win every game, but do you really trust leaving the committee decide our fate? So that's my mentality, every game is a must win, especially at home
