Villanova (MSG), Fri., Jan. 20, 7p, FS-1

This program does not have shame. If they did, they would have hired a competent coach a long time ago.
Hey, the fans have the final say, if you don't like something, you stop going.
You cancel your season tickets.

If every home game is just opposing fans selling out carnesecca and msg, then you'd think that SJU would have no choice to get a real coach but with SJU's who knows, I could see them saying: "well atleast we're selling out our home games.

If that doesn’t show how clueless the coaching staff is what does? Outside of Soriano, what players in this team have improved? Most are on a downward slope.
You can’t even put Soriano’s improvement on the coaching staff. For all intents and purposes, he’s went out himself, lost weight, bulked up and worked on his game.

If anything, they hold him back. He’s got his guy posted up all night. If the coaching staff is yelling to get him the ball, the players aren’t listening and when he’s got a guy clearly boxed out on the block, we either don’t dump it to him or, even, take the obvious shot when a rebound could be just as good as a pass.

I’ve been team dump Anderson for awhile now. The nail should already be in the coffin.

They keep reeling us in and then decompose before our eyes. Even my wife does not understand why I keep doing this to myself. Nor do I. It's a bad movie I keep watching over and over again.
We are the horse, in the “beating a dead horse”.

We did get two of the “jewels” of the portal, one a hot dog, who puts himself above the team and is all glitz over substance, and the other a guy who hunts stats and chooses launching ill time threes over blue collar, baseline play
I think both are gone next season, so that's a plus for anyone who hates them. Which I assume is at least half of us by now.

I told 114 this tonight. I’ve never felt as low now as since Norm debacle
Yeah, this is pretty low. I long gave up the fantasy that we are going to be a perennial Big East contender. However, their was a time we had teams that would play hard and force the other teams to at least WORK to beat us. We would play a certain brand of basketball, disciplined with defense and good shot selection that on a given night you knew you were playing a St. John’s team.

Sadly, those days are long gone. We are a Program without an identity. The 40 minutes of hell is nothing more than coach-less WTF. This has been going on for years. Zero accountability ANYWHERE in the Program. Not the Administration. Not the AD. Not the Coaches. NOWHERE. Let’s stop acting like putting a well coached, disciplined, competitive team in the floor is rocket science. Its not. Again, I am not asking for National Championships here.

You can complain all you want to about Curbelo and I agree with everyone’s sentiment but if he quit the team tomorrow we still are a bad team and that’s what sucks. We will win some more games this year but it will be another meaningless season. CMA said he had the talent this year but I disagree. The only player who has impressed me consistently is Soriano and he can’t do it by himself. Watching us play Villanova feels like Groundhogs Day. Just disappointed.

I disagree there’s plenty of talent on this team. Jones was a proven talent, Soriano I’d very good, Storr (with some instruction and a okay run to Fred him up) could be good. Curbelo with some coaching/discipline could be good, Pish dhiujd be good etc. it’s not the players, it’s the CLUELESS STAFF. Outside of forcing the ball into Soriano, what other play did they run? ZERO NADA ETC.

This was , maybe the determining game in the CMA era . It blows up this season when a MSG win was a must . Nothing else means anything for the rest of the season . There have been too many games and enough seasons with Mike as the Coach to know he’s not the answer . Nice guy , had his best years with Missouri and Arkansas . Was this game all on him ? No . But , he put this team on the Court , with his chosen players ..Like so many times in his tenure , they came up small .

Disagree.

Honestly believe we'd get old Posh back if Curbelo was benched. And that alone would make us a significantly better team.

St. John's must change the recruiting philosophy that has gone on for for 50 years. They need to stop recruiting blunt instruments and start recruiting precision tools. When a basketball program has been unable to get any mileage out of the 3 point shot, which started in the 80s, it is a telling sign that the wrong people have been put in charge of bringing in talent.

I have been watching some SJU games from the 80s and 90s. The amount of bricklayers this program has had over the years, at both guard positions, is astonishing. Nothing has changed.

Making plays taking another family trip without his phone

I hate to seem so fixated but neither Jones or Curbelo are “good”. Thry duck as bb players. They may have some skills and athleticism but are major negatives on a net basis. Paultz stated it perfectly above.

We recruit “athletes”. That’s fine. However, we need more basketball players.

Typical St. John’s. City behind them, lit up from all angles. Lay an egg. Same olei

They weren’t too shabby before they got here, no?
