Upgrade on facilities

When I went to see Imagine Dragons concert at UBS last year it was free parking in Emerald if you own a bmw so might pay to buy a bmw if we are going to have a lot of home games there. Although with St Johns fan luck people would buy bmw's and they would change free parking to Teslas

Can you get a group fleet discount on the Beamers? Maybe red only?

Yes, but what happens in say 7-10 years when Pitino is gone and we go backwards. Then it's too late to upgrade the facilities because there is no excitement around the program. I say do it before Pitino is gone, or we'll be in trouble later.
I still think the goal should be a 6-7 k field house type facility with all sports integrated. Nothing too huge but something with cavernous feel; integrated weight and bball practice facility etc. Try to get a bunch of upgrades in one big facility that stretches from soccer field to lacrosse field. Houses a bunch of sports with locker rooms etc.

That would be amazing

I dont remember exactly but I think when we have played at Barclays our attendance has sucked too. I think the long island guys ( most of us at least would rather play at UBS than Barclays.

My first choice will always be MSG
I am hoping that with Pitino we are drawing more “St. John’s fans” AT MSG. Most of us would like the majority of our games played there. However, many have selective memories. Plenty of games there and we drew 5-6K if it wasn’t Villanova or Yukon. MSG also wasn’t showing us a lot of love either. Not sure I blame them. B10 Tournament. Yukon and for God‘s sake Rutgers playing a “home game” there.

I also think we should play a game or two at Barclays or UBS never hurts. They are both professional arenas. I think it helps our recruiting (I remember Shamorie Ponds was thrilled to play in Brooklyn) and some fans who might not get to the Garden.

Again, just before the every game should be at MSG fans go crazy, I am talking about preferably non conference one offs.

They should also end the gimmick of playing an ostensible "home" game at UBS/barclays but not including in the season ticket package

Was just kidding with my remark obviously but my dream of an improved on campus facility will die with me. We do need an upgraded practice facility and improved amenities though.
Build them one of those Bubble Facilities they use for Football Indoor Workouts when the Weather is bad .
They can be heated , AC , Ventilated , etc . Of course since it’s a Practice facility , seats aren’t necessary . The Technology is easily done and built . Probably for a fraction of the cost of any building . Baseball team , Lacrosse could use it too .

Some arena related talk. If SJU is good they can easily play two thirds to three quarters of the schedule at MSG. Which is the current plan, including the being good part. If there is a big enough game or two or three that MSG can't fit in, there are pro arenas that were at 3:15 P.M. today, a 15-minute drive (UBS) and 50-minute drive (Barclays) from the campus. I won't get involved in the endless debate about which of those two are preferable, just list them both to illustrate why the idea of adding an arena to the campus is nutty. The women can't even fill the seatback sections of Carnesecca, and even if the men's team becomes the hottest ticket in NYC there would be about five games played there maximum. There is just no need.

Now as far as other schools playing a game here and there at MSG. That is now going to be great for SJU. They will be playing there, as schools have since the old Garden was the standard, because it is THE PLACE. So, when someone else plays a big game there they will only add to that narrative. And Pitino is going to sell the hell out of that (I'm sure that started already.) And since SJU will easily play ten games a year at MSG now (don't forget the BE tournament) no school is going to be able to win over a recruit by saying we play a game, or two, or even three at MSG. For MSG to be relevant for SJUs recruiting SJU needs to play there enough to impress a recruit. Four games a year was not going to get that done. Pitino knows that and I'm sure upping the MSG schedule was part of his discussions with SJU.

If I were consulting the University , I would say forget about upgrades , other than minimal to CA .

Play all BE games at MSG and OOC games at UBS near Belmont Park . Rick could be close to his horses , if he still owns horses .

Reality is not going to build a new CA on campus . Pipe Dream . Building new Facilities should focus on Academic Needs ,
The new Health Sciences and Pharmacy Building under Construction will serve the Nursing Education , Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Programs.
This is and should be the direction of the University . Academic improvements including facilities needed .

What’s wrong with MSG or UBS ? Increased attendance at Games will more than cover Rental Costs .
Spot on! Also the campus is just too small, this won't happen. Better off at throwing the money at MSG relationship. I have always said that we should play as many games as possible at MSG even at a loss. It is all about branding and SJU needs to brand itself as a school that plays its games at MSG.
