Upgrade on facilities

Can someone explain why we would use UBS instead of Barclays? Honest question. I guess it’s closer to campus, but transportation to Barclays is much better (like a dozen subway lines and lirr), it’s a pro basketball arena, and there’s a bunch of stuff around the arena to do before/after games. UBS is just in a big parking lot on the side of a highway, no cache, and we couldn’t even draw 10k when playing Kansas there. Is it just to keep a relationship with the arena for some reason?
I dont remember exactly but I think when we have played at Barclays our attendance has sucked too. I think the long island guys ( most of us at least would rather play at UBS than Barclays.

My first choice will always be MSG

For next year it is also a situation where Barclays will be hosting tourney games and on the even slight possibility of STJ getting to play there they would not want to play any home games there this upcoming season to disqualify themselves from playing tourney games there. How often does that happen? Unsure but it would require consideration each year that it does.

Yes, but what happens in say 7-10 years when Pitino is gone and we go backwards. Then it's too late to upgrade the facilities because there is no excitement around the program. I say do it before Pitino is gone, or we'll be in trouble later.
Not ever going to happen!
Why is this even a question in a City like New York? There are other arena options and special buses leaving from the campus should be a regular part of attending games at those arenas.
Georgetown, Seton Hall, Marquette, DePaul, are examples of deciding not to build on campus arenas.

If I were consulting the University , I would say forget about upgrades , other than minimal to CA .

Play all BE games at MSG and OOC games at UBS near Belmont Park . Rick could be close to his horses , if he still owns horses .

Reality is not going to build a new CA on campus . Pipe Dream . Building new Facilities should focus on Academic Needs ,
The new Health Sciences and Pharmacy Building under Construction will serve the Nursing Education , Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Programs.
This is and should be the direction of the University . Academic improvements including facilities needed .

What’s wrong with MSG or UBS ? Increased attendance at Games will more than cover Rental Costs .
I disagree. Rick pitino is not going to be here forever and the school needs to upgrade for the long term.

I'm not even saying a new arena, but upgrades to the things fans don't see, like locker room and film.study room etc.

The seat backs give you very little knee room.its pretty uncomfortable. Quite a conundrum because as an old guy having that back support helps. WTH let's get a new on campus arena!!
If Fizzy is talking about those things in the middle section those things absolutely suck except they look good on tv. I'm 6 foot 4 and there is no way I can sit in those ( I tried once pre game ). I'll gladly take my ass breaking seat in the upper section that makes my ;legs go numb if I dont move at times with the tropical heat over the middle section

You'll never be able to upgrade CA for the long term. IMO it's just not feasible considering it's age and the limitations. Maybe, at some point, they raze CA and build a new arena, but right now CA is mostly fine for what it is if we utilize MSG and USB as it seems we are planning on doing.

You just brought a tear to my eyes.😢😭
I miss those intimate seats at Walsh gym when we played at Seton Hall.

Bama , you know better than that . I’m a 65 year plus fan and a Alum .

But , reality has to be faced . In this day and age , Schools with much larger Endowments aren’t building new Gym facilities on Campus .

You think G ‘town is ? Seton Hall ? Butler ?
Of course Butler has iconic Hinkle Field House on Campus , which probably still has the Peach Baskets in storage .
There are several schools building or have recently built facilities for their other sports, some are game facilities while others are practice/training facilities.

I do not see St. John’s building a new facility but do see them making continued improvements on CA and Taffner. I do see all Big East games moving to MSG and national OOC games to either MSG, UBS or Barclays with buy games remaining at CA.

Exactly 88'. Anything is possible now!
I would think Coach Pitino was reassured that facilities would be upgraded(?) before he consented to accept the position. I would think there is enough Repole/alum
money and incentive with a program clearly becoming a winning one.

Amenities are essential. We can play 100% of our games at MSG. The kids still want nice locker rooms, weight room, meeting rooms, etc.

Just the way it is these days.
I have no idea what the conditions of those facilities are, but it would seem to me that an upgrade to those 3 areas (if needed) wouldn't be cost prohibitive based on money that has flowed in and is expected to flow in.
