Up Next: Creighton

Kind of superstitious. We did well in the Butler game with the "up next" heading ;-)

Make it 3 BE wins in a row fellas

Watching Creighton vs Georgetown now. I don't know how we stop this Ethan Wragge kid. He's a better pure shooter than Mc Dermott is. He's not a better all around player but Wragge shoots from beyond the NBA 3pt range consistently and hits them. They're up 7 on GT as of now.

Wragge will destroy us unless we are in his face without any letup. He can't have any space. If he is at the half court line someone better be a foot in front of him. No exaggeration, that is his range.

Well if any bigs like to play defensively along the perimeter its our bigs.

I agree . I think wragge has only taken 7 2 point shots all season. We can't let him breath , someone needs to stick to him like glue , Dom pointer might be able to do the job.

Hope we win Tuesday but it won't be easy..Right now from what I can see Creighton is the best team in the Big East. We will be double digit underdogs for sure. Georgetown is a 12 point underdog tonight and is down 13 late in the second half.

We need to do what they are afraid we will do: run. Get their shooters running up and down the court all game. I'd put Dom on McDermott (when he enters the game) and Sampson on Wragge when Pointer is in, but I'd like to see Pointer come off the bench. Wragge doesn't do anything but shoot threes and that puts Creighton--an already small team-- at a big disadvantage on the offensive glass. They need to own the glass on both ends. This has to be our best rebounding performance of the year.

I'd imagine the line will be 9.5.

I really like the NYC kid, Devin Brooks, on Creighton. I think he will be all-Big East next year and around 18 ppg.

From your mouth to Lavins ears... It's gonna be a tough game. . We can't afford to be down to them by too much coz that crowd is a legit 6th player. If we run it though we have a chance to grab an upset.

To add, I wouldn't double McDermott. Whether he is guarded by Sampson or Dom, just let him go one one one. Try to deny as much as possible first. Let him get his 30 points that way, and don't let guys bury open three's or get offensive rebounds because our players were trying to help. Guys like Wragge aren't going to create offense, but they will break your back with a open three if you cheat to help.

Also if Sanchez gets into foul trouble we can throw him on Wragge just to keep his offense in the game. Obekpa will be of little use to us against them.

I think he could be. When they play their real big centers, who aren't very good, Obekpa can be in the game to deter any low post action to McDermott, especially when Dom is on him. Also, his blocks can ignite some fast breaks for us. I hope he comes ready to play. We'll need him.

I agree
I think this is key, playing solid defensive fundamentals. If we need to help all the time that will cause untold problems.
Also, that Wraggie kid loves to pop the 3 in transition, I'm sure the coaches will remind our guys about that, but they need to be vigilant.
Being close isn't the same thing as guarding someone tight.

First off, Sanchez can not give up these bs hand check fouls . He gets himself in stupid foul trouble. We will need a total teal effort on defense for a team like creighton . Switch offs on screens, and REBOUNDS!!! It drives me crazy when our guy hoist up a 3 and never follow up on it. I mean we are shooting in the 30s%, more likely it's a miss right? Follow up your shot!! Maybe our athleticism will allow us match up problems on them. We need to contest all of their shots. Nations # 1 shot blocking team in your face baby!! Seriously, they are a very sound team, this could be a huge win for us that turns around our season. Go Johnnies!!!

Talk about a signature win. This is the one that we have all been looking for.

Keep the momentum going and show the Big East that it is almost February...which is going to be OUR month. :fight:
