Everything has already been said about these two guys, but the thing I can’t wrap around my head is that they thought they were allowed to this and were apparently waiting to do it. I’m paraphrasing, but the one guy said they “patrol our corner.”
Um…wut?
ESPN glorified it and the guy who wrote the “article” called him “a beaut.”I saw that too. Mind blowing. I don't know what to chalk that up other than to there are a lot of buffoons not only in NYC, but in this country. Unfortunately terrible behavior like this becomes normalized because it's publicized so much on social media and mainstream media outlets.
I smell a Chris Hansen Episode coming called " To Catch a Foul Ball "Not only was the behavior ugly, this is one of the ugliest human beings I’ve ever seen. He looks like a melting candle.
I’ve eaten marshmallows with more definition than that guy’s face.
He looks like every guy that shows up with pizza and condoms to a Chris Hansen sting.

Relating it to Johnnies fandom, I had a block of season tickets (MSG only, took business associates and friends) during the 80's and 90's, and remember seeing many more fights in the stands back then than now. Now almost never, then every other game or sometimes multiple fights during a game. Always fueled by alcohol, usually later, night games. So much better now.
Worst, MLB had to ban them from Game 5 and not the Yankees.Worst part was the applause and pats on the back that these two mooks got from other fans when they were escorted out.
How about holding those offenders to account by dishing out more severe punishments for those offenders? Those 2 idiots at the WS should do 30 days in the can and face a lifetime ban from all MLB games.Moderate Drinking of Alcohol at Sporting Events is part of the enjoyment for some Fans, not all .
It’s when excessive drinking by the few that gets out of hand and spoils the enjoyment of the Event for the many .
Beer and Alcohol Sales are big business profit centers . They won’t be banned as a result .
No one attending a game or event should be subject to annoying behavior or threat of Physical Harm by obnoxious people.
The Sporting Arenas have to do a better job of ejecting offensive fans , as difficult a job that may be .
In NYC , do the Venues use Private , non armed Security or, is there a adequate percentage of NYC Police Officers on hand to keep the peace ?
Gotta be honest. Never once heard the term “cagers”. Like it.This is nothing new. Back in the day, basketball courts were surrounded by cages...to keep the game moving and to keep crazed fans away from the players. That's why basketball players are still called "cagers". That being said, more punishment should be meted out to the duo who attacked Betts.
Reminds me of guys who play at the West 4th Street court, otherwise known as “The Cage.”Gotta be honest. Never once heard the term “cagers”. Like it.

I remember a baseball field along the Cross-Island Pkwy, off Hempstead Ave. (Tpke.), at the Elmont-Queens Village border that was called the Cage.Reminds me of guys who play at the West 4th Street court, otherwise known as “The Cage.”

I think Villanova stole that gimmick from Syracuse (not sitting down until the first basket). What the Big 5 Philly schools used to do was toss streamers onto the court after their team made the first basket. Game was stopped to clean it up, play resumed. Technical foul threats stopped that pretty quickly. When I was a student I tried replicating that but the apathy was strong on that one. My claim to fame was getting long rolls of butcher paper to write various things on and pasted them onto the walls behind each basket. One actually was quoted in Sports Illustrated when we beat Tennessee with King and Grunfeld.Except for UCONN and Syracuse fans my experience has been that I generally find all other opposing team fans respectful. Each time I am at a UCONN game without fail one of their drunken fans try to engage in disrespectful foul trash talking smack that goes beyond good "WWF Heat". Villanova fans piss me off when they do not sit until the first basket is made but after that they behave. What do you expect from fans that prefer Hacksaw Jim Dugan over the Sheik?
Remember Irv at all of our home games thought he was coming.I think Villanova stole that gimmick from Syracuse (not sitting down until the first basket). "Bern, Ern, and Irv, should have stayed home" (Irv being Irv Chatman, another NYer.)
I was at that game, December 75 I think, sophomore year. Tennessee was ranked 3rd or 4th. Still the best on campus game I have seen. Talk about home court advantage, electric. George Johnson was the man !I think Villanova stole that gimmick from Syracuse (not sitting down until the first basket). While he predates me, Chatman and I went to the same high school as did Jimmy Wright who was Irv’s high school and college (Rhode Island where Irv wound up after leaving Tennessee).Remember Irv at all of our home games thought he was coming.
