Uconn to ACC: RUMOR

Why on God’s green earth would the ACC accept Yukon for football? The holy grail for ACC football is Notre Dame. Adding YUKON does NOTHING for that. The ACC football which is suspect already gets weaker.

Second, many of US knew this would happen. IF True (where there is smoke their is fire?) how did Ackerman not know it? I don’t see how this helped the Bug East long term at all.

I hear a lot about Dayton replacing UCONN in the Big East.

I have not even heard that Yukon is leaving the Big East much less that Dayton would be invited over the strong- strong objections of Xavier.

I too hate UConn, but I don't think it's in our best interests to have them leave the BE. I'd rather they stay, because they're good (and getting better with another year of talent waiting in the wings), and in order for the BE to stay competitive (and given due recognition) at a time when the power conferences are taking steps to get bigger and stronger, and in order for the BE to maintain its status as an elite conference, we need to have more good teams, not fewer, no matter how much we might hate them. Want to make UConn fans really miserable, then beat them.

Frankly I wouldn't blame UConn given they could probably triple their TV money in the ACC.

That said, their public begging for an ACC invite, from their football coach to their AD, has been embarrassing. Teams that are actually desired by a Power conference don't need to do that, they just join and everyone finds out after it's official.

My guess is UConn has received signals that they'll be invited once the ACC is poached, which could be anywhere from a few months to years from now depending on when the top teams can figure out the GOR. It'll still probably be worthwhile for UConn to join just due to football $$$, but it'll be more like an AAC+ at that point rather than a P2.

If St. John's decides not to hire a Pitino and we ultimately get left behind in realignment (say: Nova and Georgetown go to the B12 or whatever), then the school will fully deserve it. The landscape is quickly shifting and now is not the time for another "maybe" hire.
Then those in our fan base who think we should move to a lower level conference may get thier wish. Eventually we may wind up like NYU, who actually has more final 4 appearances then we do. Correction; both schools have 2 Final 4 appearances

Am I missing something or did she just make her conference $30M richer for renting UConn for a few years?
If you look at it that way. Yes, the conference made an extra $30 million dollars.

But it isn’t a good look to have a school bail on your conference a second time. The BE resuscitated UConn hoops, and in return UConn hoops rejected the BE.

The St. John's women just beat beat #4 Uconn in Hartford.
If St. John's, Villanova and Georgetown return to college basketball upper echelon we won't miss Uconn. Just as we now don't miss Syracuse or Boston College.

Agree on BC, but think we miss Cuse.
We've been beating Cuse regularly since they left and we've been mediocre at best.
The only people who miss Cuse in NYC are Orange alums.
God only knows what the basketball program will become after Boeheim but they will have to pay over $5 million dollars per year to coach in Siberia.

Wow! Very impressive. Maybe Joe Tartamella can switch over to the men's program.

Add DePaul in there also. If you have New York, DC, Philly and Chicago humming you don’t need UConn
