UCLA GAME

Anyone still questioning Sir Dom's ability in an up tempo game.
Kid has had a few highlight real buckets this afternoon.

I have to say that even if they are not great shooters right now, I love Sir'dom's and Amir's games. Both just need to tighten their handle and shooting and they both will be excellent. Garrett has improved soooo much already for a kid who came on board second semester. I think he has a high ceiling to his game with some work in the offseason.

He is very quick to the basket going left, like to see him work on his right hand dribbling. Would be difficult to handle next year.

Pointer spending the summer on campus will be huge.
Will hurt that Garrett can't.

Congrats to the team and coaches on this much needed win on national tv. I go to the Syracuse game at the Garden and the Seton Hall game in Nj and we get smoked both games. I am going to the Rutgers game and hopeful we play with the same energy that they did tonight.

The kids do try hard, and they showed much better effort tonight then they did vs. the Seton Hall game, but candidly the difference was UCLA didn't hit their open 3's like SH did and gave our team chances to run on misses..Where the lack of bodies hurts is on the defensive end.

Clearly this was a game where our talent matched their's as this years UCLA team is not that athletic.. Bigger but not too quick. Reminded me a bit of e Duke team but not as good. Sir Dominic played very well - he's a good player- can't shoot too well at this point though. Other than Harrison we don't shoot too well. Clearly with a few more big bodies, and a shooter or two, we'll be much more competitive next year and a bubble NCAA tourney team. Let's finish this year out with a few more wins, play hard, and look forward to the 2012-2013 campaign.

If I were a UCLA fam I would be pissed too- they lost because we out hustled them today...

Go johnnies!

This was the first of many UCLA losses that Kyle Anderson and his father will see in person.

Perhaps  Kyle now understands that he chose the wrong college to attend.

It's a great school and beautiful campus, so "wrong" may be too strong of a word ... but if Howland gets canned, maybe Anderson never makes it there...

Phew! Another cardiac finish, but this time in our favor. Feel so good for our kids. They really play their butts off, and it would have been disheartening not to come away with the win. Good to see those smiles. (I'm wearing a big one myself right now.)

First time I saw Jamal Branch smile all year -- after the Harkless pass to Greene for the layup

Was that Branch that shook Lavin's hand in the skybox? They showed Laving shaking a young man's hand. I'm curious if that was Branch or a recruit.

why did they foul on purpose up by 4 with 4 seconds left come on the game was over

Honestly, I didn't like that play, either.

Something we can agree on MJ. I didn't like it at all. Too much time left for them to be able to make/miss and get a 3 or even make 2 and foul. Luckily it all worked out. We needed this one in the worst way for so many reasons. UCLA is down this year but it is always great to beat them. Especially on national television at MSG.

Kind of ironic we lost last year with the team we had, and won this year with a 6 man rotation of newcomers.

Balamou is visiting this weekend.

Great win today. The kids  played hard the whole game. Hopefully the team can get on a run going into the BE tournament.

JofV, no doubting that (kind of thought that when I posted it), but they still have lots of talent, and a bunch of McD AAs. While we have young talent, we are no where close to last year's team yet. Still a good win for this young group. I know the Pac-12 stinks but UCLA is 8-6 and has been playing well of late. They arguably should have beat us, but we played well and fought hard.

I still don't get what is going on over there. Honeycutt should not have left, the problems with Nelson (who I think is a really good player), and then it seems something doesn't add up with Smith.

UCLA had better players last year.

hell of a job by the guys scrapping together a win today. Moe and D'Angelo really gutted through playing the full 40 minutes. Moe was defended well when trying to go off the dribble but came up with 12 boards and 6 steals and D'Angelo fought through physical play, scored the ball and rebounded the ball. D'Angelo was EXHAUSTED in those final minutes.

Also really nice game plan by Dunlap and the rest of our coaching staff knowing which of our players had the mismatches to take their defenders off the dribble and showing them the confidence to turn them loose. All around great win.

Now the challenge is to get the guys ready and prepared for a quick turnaround against DePaul on Monday while still giving them time to rest. A few of them REALLY need it judging by how exhausted they were.

Neither. Branch is a member of the team so he sits with the team. And it was not Balamou who is much darker complexion.

There was a kid in a St Johns sweat suit that joined every huddle and than sat in a regular seat during the game. Anyone know who is? He looked to be about 6ft 8.
