TV Watching & Cord Cutting

I thought The Defenders was entertaining. I'm looking forward to The Punisher. My brother is friendly with Jon Bernthal, so I'm a bit biased in him being my favourite character. I also collected Punisher comics as a kid. I played pickup hoops with Jon st my brothers wedding. He is a tough PG. he was a college baseball player so a good athlete and a strong guy.

Bernthal is an awesome, intense actor. Loved him as the choice for Punisher.

Am I the only one who appreciated the slow-burn of the first 6 seasons of this show? The first 6 seasons put this show on par with The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos etc.

Season 7 was almost unwatchable for me at times. My wife who is a book reader had very similar gripes. It used to take characters 3-4 episodes to travel from one place to another. Sometimes even longer. Now you see characters like Gendry travel from King's Landing to Dragonstone to the Wall in a single episode! WTF!

Also, I'm not a fan of all the characters coming together and delivering cheesy one-liners to each other about their history with one another. The show was cheapened by the fact that there are so many actors/actresses who couldn't spend 15 years on a show and now they had to cram 3+ seasons of content into 1 season. Can't blame them but the product suffers now

I believe some posters put this up there but if you haven't watched, Ray Donovan is picking up steam. Really enjoy.

He was really good in his very small role in "Wind River."

Watching the Punisher.. this might be my favorite Marvel show on Netflix.

Just finished the season. My wife got into it too. Probably my favorite too but very different from the other Marvel shows. More drama than superhero/powers. Less action too but the action scenes are pretty brutal.

If anyone is looking for a new show watch " The Chi " on Showtime. Excellent show

Lodge 49
Saw the first season came on Hulu recently and started watching it to feed my insomnia. Hard to nail this down to describe. It kind of reminds me of a Flannery O'Connor story. I'd almost say Twin Peaks-ish but it is not quite that surreal. More subtle and probably slow for a lot of people. If you are a Bruce Campbell fan he gets a role starting at around episode 5, I think and again maybe a more subtle performance for Bruce Campbell. I also saw that it is renewed for season 2.

It is produce by Paul Giamati and I like it.
Description:
Looking for any semblance of the idyllic middle-class existence he knew before his father's death and the family business collapsing, a charming, eternally optimistic ex-surfer named Dud stumbles into his life's new path. He finds himself on the doorstep of a rundown fraternal lodge, where a "Luminous Knight" of the order, plumbing salesman Ernie, welcomes him with open arms. Lodge 49 offers Dud a world of cheap beer, easy friendship and some strange alchemical philosophies that may help him confront his deepest fears and greatest hopes.
Production location: Georgia
Network: AMC
No. of episodes: 10 (list of episodes)
Executive producers: Paul Giamatti, Randall Einhorn, Jeff Freilich, Peter Ocko
