ESPN has become to sports what MTV is to music.
great analogy. I was surprised to hear a DJ on a music station yesterday saying that MTV was unwatchable. Being a nerd however I did have to watch their Shannara series since I read the books years ago. But you can watch that on Netflix now. increasingly ESPN has been difficult to watch and then the blatant anti-Big East was a tipping point.
I tried out Sling and the Playstation Vue cord cutting options and my son just signed up for the new Google option. They all offer ESPN so not sure why you don't get it. The biggest drawback as far as channels for me was CBS/CBS Sports which are not available for Sling or Playstation Vue. CBS has their own private subscription method which I also tried but found really annoying especially on top of paying for Sling. It also did not include the regular CBS Sports options so it was a waste. My son says CBS is included in Google but I haven't tried it.
I'm on fiber internet now so it is overall on about par with the reliability of cable or Dish/Directv in terms of watching uninterrupted by technical difficulties, but a streaming before that was often hit or miss and I wouldn't do any of these cord cutting options without a really good/reliable Internet connection.
I have to say though that the original programming on Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix is really good. A lot better than most of what is being offered on traditional networks. Hulu is also great for watching network stuff because if you have the right subscription you can watch most of it without commercials. My wife and I binge watched 2 seasons of Bosch recently on Amazon Prime. Pretty good.
