Mussini and Freudenberg left to go pro in Italy/Europe. All of Ellison, Sima, Yakwe, Dixon, and now Trimble transferred for more PT at programs that had needs that better fit their skills, I.e., to hope to get more PT.
Why is it disrespectful to thank a guy for battling for us and wishing a kid well but point out that he was a bit mis-matched at the high-major level or at St. John’s, if it’s merely an assessment of the kid’s ‘game’ and not his ‘character’?
So long as the kid is not being personally maligned, I don’t see that it is.
What is the benefit of pointing out a player is over matched? As adults can’t we just thank him and move on? And if someone doesn’t want to thank him then skip that part and move on.
I would bet that most of these kids (if not all) have tallied more points in NCAA games than all of the members of this board combined.
At this point, there's much adieu about too much.
You make a good first point and a good but non-applicable 2nd point. Most on this board did not receive athletic 'ships...
Regarding your first point, I think it irks some of us that the thank you salutations for the transferring player are out-of-whack / inaccurate, compared to the player's stats and by-extension, absolves the Staff's involvement in both the player's recruitment and development.
I concede that may be a silly 'reaction'.
It is what it is.
We wish all players well--particularly those who 'left it' on the court, as Trimble did.
So, I agree, let us move on.
