Trimble Transfers
Trimble was solid for us when we desperately needed bodies on the defensive end. He received more than his fair share of criticism, yet swallowed it all and played hard.

Good luck to this very tough young man.
While I'm not saying he is a very nice kid, playing bigger forwards was the only way on a guard oriented team that he was going to see meaningful court time. What were his alternatives? To tell coaches he'd rather sit than try to guard taller, quicker forwards? He did play hard but was mostly overmatched on defense and non-contributor on offense. I don't believe he took the ball to the hoop once all season, and don't recall him making a single layup, even on a fast break. Almost every single shot was a 3, which is really strange for a guy who didn't shoot well from three.

I think he may be better suited to play at d2 level where he'd get more time to shoot, and would likely score more. I just don't see what he demonstrated last season other than trying to guard forwards because our roster was so thin.

This kid did exactly what the coach wanted him to do and always left it all out on the floor and as far as I am concerned that is all any fan has a right to expect. He is fully capable of being a solid contributor at the DIV 1 level. Would love to see him play in the A-10 (perhaps SLU who lost some guards) so that I can watch him play against Davidson in person.
Best to you Bryan, you got way more flak on this board than you deserved.

You make some good points Beast.
Trimble battled very hard and for that he has our admiration.
It wasn't his fault he was outmatched by bigger guys and it wasn't his fault he was outmatched on offense as well.
Both speak to our lack of both a deep bench and of high-major talent.
He may be competitive at the low-mid major D1 level.
Hope so.
I wish him well.

Wow....D-II? There are flaws, but DII is too harsh an assessment.

Inaccurate and more important, totally unnecessary. This kid was 6th or 7th man on a Big Eeast team that made the NCAA tourney. Enough said.

It's not Bryan Trimble Jr.'s fault that he was over-matched in Big East play.
He gave it everything he had and we have to admire that.
I hope he is transferring to a more suitable level of competition that fits his basketball skills, so that he can succeed and also that he thrives academically.
Good luck to a solid kid.

Good luck young man. Thank you for your time here. Sorry things didnt work out, but I will be rooting for you whenever you end up

Agreed as well as any other compliments which could be added. However, and unfortunately that is not always the way with many posters on this board for whatever reason. Mussini, Ellison, Yakwe and others were all treated in a similiar fashion even though these kids did whatever was asked of them at all times and were model citizens.
I can only hope that at the end of next season we won’t be complaining about how much we all miss Brian.
Best of luck to him in his future endeavours.

This is probably a good decision by Trimble. As beast of the east pointed out his skill was playing forwards bigger and stronger than he was and he did that well.
However he seems to be the exact opposite guard that Anderson is looking for. He is nowhere quick enough to put pressure on opposing guards.

I wish him well and hope he finds a program that plays a slower game than what I think coach Anderson will be implementing at St. John's.
While some may disagree, I see Beast's point regarding his utilization by the previous staff. I further think that he was over utilized at the expense of Williams and Roberts. While understandable early in the season the continued use was puzzling. Both Keita and Trimble were poor fits for Mullin's team and certainly were not getting minutes by this more experienced staff.

Trimble did everything the staff asked him to do to the very best of his ability
Like Marvin Clark, he was often asked to play out of position
He never squawked, he never complained, he just went out and played hard
As far as I am concerned, he was selfless and a warrior
Thanks for your contributions, Bryan, and best of luck at your next school

Agreed wish this kid nothing but the best hope he finds a school where he can play more. This kid gave it his all and did whatever he was asked and he worked his butt off between his freshman and sophomore year to get in better shape.

Mussini and Freudenberg left to go pro in Italy/Europe. All of Ellison, Sima, Yakwe, Dixon, and now Trimble transferred for more PT at programs that had needs that better fit their skills, I.e., to hope to get more PT.
Why is it disrespectful to thank a guy for battling for us and wishing a kid well but point out that he was a bit mis-matched at the high-major level or at St. John’s, if it’s merely an assessment of the kid’s ‘game’ and not his ‘character’?
So long as the kid is not being personally maligned, I don’t see that it is.

[hide][/hide]Over the last 5 games of the season, Trimble totalled 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists

I dont know in what universe that makes him a big east player, and not part of a team collapse unless you want to make the arguement that 0.6 points, 0.6 rebounds per game, and 0.8 assists per game made him a valued player. Mikey dixon should have been more patient and panicked over keita coming back to eat his minutes. Imo, dixon would have taken Trimble minutes and William's would have contributed more given the chance.

He was on the court simply to give the better players some rest or because they were in foul trouble.

Thank you BT for always giving it your all and doing what was asked of you. Shame on your coaches for failing to recruit enough bigs and more often than not using you to guard players 5 and 6 inches taller than you in the low post because they had no appropriate option. I can only imagine that did not help you to develop your offensive and defensive guard skills. Best of luck at your new school where I hope they use you as a 2 guard and where I hope you do well.

Talk of D-2 is a bit much: There are 343 D-1 teams, and he's good enough that he won't have to pay a dime for college. He's a good kid who busts his ass, and if he wants to go home, there's no way he doesn't make the UMKC coach a happy man.

I wish him luck wherever that may be.

Yakwe is a great kid and a great student, but did not provide much on the court after a nice freshmen year.

Amar is a great kid and even better ambassador for our program. However apart from one glorious game in an upset of Cuse, didn't give us much.

Trimble was thrust into literally playing over his head on defense. He by all accounts. Is a great kid. However, 75 of his 79 shots were from 3, where he hit about 30%. He never got to the foul line. I hope he goes to a place where he is able to thrive.

Mussini is a different story. Great kid, along with amar was always there to chat with a young kid, or sign autographs. He could play a little tho, and especially after Lovett quit we really could have used him.

What is the benefit of pointing out a player is over matched? As adults can’t we just thank him and move on? And if someone doesn’t want to thank him then skip that part and move on.

I would bet that most of these kids (if not all) have tallied more points in NCAA games than all of the members of this board combined.
