Transfers

Do transfers count towards the current athletic scholarships or only when they become eligible?

Yes, they count as a scholarship.

I suppose you could try to convince a kid to not be on scholarship during his sit year, but why would he transfer to your school?

Thanks. I was wondering if the allotment could come from another program, other than athletic.

I think they scrutinize it pretty hard if you try to put a kid on academic scholarship, for example. Kid would probably need to transfer with a 4.0 to get away with that. I think the transfer this year will be a fifth-year guy, though, so no issue with scholarship -- the guy who comes is getting one and playing.

Agree. Just posting it, not suggesting anything. An interior fifth year kid & a player who will sit out seems the direction staff is taking.

A fifth year transfer and another transfer or a fifth year transfer and the Greek Freaks brother or somebody like him?

The former, but certainly subject to change.

Per Jeff Borzello:
Delaware guard Kory Holden has received his release and will transfer. Averaged 17.7 points and 4.2 assists.

When he heard Jack wasn't coming he just couldn't take it any more. Had to go.

Cullen Neal, New Mexico PG, will transfer as a fifth year kid.

Pretty sure Neal is a RS soph so would still have to sit a year. Delaware kid looks like quite the player.

Correct. He's leaving because the fan base turned on him as the coaches kid getting preferential treatment. Had to change his phone number and close his twitter and facebook accounts apparently. Even talk of death theats. Crazy story. Other problem is with the 5 to play 4 he may only have 1 more year of eligibility left unless he can get a waiver for his redshirt year.

I still think we need a wide body on the front line. Our bigs are sooo skinny

that 5th year big transfer guy that averaged something like 15 and 9 would be the perfect replacement if CJ decides to go somewhere else for his last year

Maybe he will follow Jack to St John's. :)

FYI Per Jeff Borzello;

Tramaine Isabell and Namon Wright are transferring from Missouri.

Two West Coast kids.

Per Pat Lawless;

St. Peter's Sophomore guard Elisha Boone has received his release and will transfer, per a source.

Is this the Arkansas State kid that was arrested last May for alleged punching a police officer, fleeing the scene and then being arrested after being shot w/ a stun gun??? Just askin....

I read that he punched the cop and fled after the cop threatened to tase him. Response could have been better, but if the tase threat was an overreaction (especially a racially motivated one), I can see why someone might be pissed.
