Tough question….. of those who can, who stays?

My buddy and I have been having this debate lately. With all the issues this team seems to be having, of the current players who can, who do you think will still be here next year?

Sorry, I just noticed the same topic under transfer portal mania so if mods want to take this down please feel free to do so.

Drissa, Brady, Wilcher, Luis, Zuby, Cruz will all stay.

And we will need 2-3 absolute studs in the portal or we are in trouble for next year.

At this point, I don’t see anyone as a definite stay.

Taylor has seemed to have lost all confidence. I’m sure he expected to be a greater contributor on the team.

Luis has not seemed to have learned much and needs far more discipline to elevate his game.

Dunlap has gone from starter to nailed to the bench. Add to that his distance from home and I don’t see him being around next year.

Wilcher ….. not enough PT and not enough development to guarantee his stay. And I think Pitino may go to the portal for another PG. Not so sure his dad is so happy with the way things have turned out.

Davis and Ayo .. will they get much PT if they stay?

Zuby is tge one player I have the most confidence may stay …..

We’re the trasfer rule different, I may have a different thoughts but will NIL, money talks. It may turn out that Pitino may be looking to replace more next year then this past year and we will be starting all over again.

I think year 2 will be just as challenging as this one, but you can’t really prognosticate until roster shakes out. Let’s not overstate the immediate impact of Glover, a fine prospect, based on his layup line debut at madness or whatever they call it. 😇

Go back and look at all the over the top expectations for Sim and Brady and learn some lessons. Breaking into BE is a bear and merits patience no matter the ratings. I guess we should apply same thinking to portal guys & predicting big numbers. Luis, shin splints or no, really fell short of our desperate expectations.

I think Dunlap, Wilcher, Zuby, and Luis (If he stays) can take huge leaps next season with the Seniors gone and another year of Pitino coaching. Add two or three portal studs, sprinkle in the freshman (Glover and Lefty could be really good IMO). Team can definitely dance next year.

I’m revising my prediction. I think only Zuby and maybe Drissa are back in light of recent events and press conferences.

Since we are speculating like a Day Trader on Steroids . Pitino enters the Portal for Ohio State and $ $35 million for 4 years . The Buckeyes have mucho dinero .

In his final press conference at St John’s he says the “ Ohio State opportunity gives him a final chance at a National Championship .”
He believes St John’s is on the way and son , Richard will continue to elevate the Program .”

And St John's announces they wish to reestablish the correct culture and rehires Norm Roberts. The Red.Fans website explodes.

I think Luis has far more raw talent than any of us dreamed.

I think Luis is much more of a project than any of us dreamed.

Fair to dream he can be the type of transformative talent Pitino prides himself on developing.

What is his raw talent? Hes athletic? This “Luis is so talented” narrative is waaaay overblown.

His basketball IQ has not improved one iota over the course of the season. Hes 21 years old already, this is not an 18 year old kid.

I just dont see it w/ this kid. I just see a kid who puts his head down, barrels to the basketball and is going to chuck up a shot come hell or high water.

Agree expect maybe for his harshest critics on the board. Funny how our best and most productive player Jenkins and the player with the most talent and upside on the team garner the most criticism.

Luis has loads of talent; up to him whether he wants to let Pitino mold him into a good basketball player.

Definition of talent

In the context of D1 college basketball, based on the above, it may still be inconclusive on Luis. a few checks, but a few question marks.

Safe to say potential more than gifted

My guess is that there will be no shortage of schools willing to overpay for Luis based on the same hype that so many on this board have bought in to. And no shortage of coaches who think that they can help him improve on his skill sets and play more disciplined ball.

I don't think he comes back, but also not ruling it out.

Luis coming back healthy would be huge. He has been injured all year. Practicing helps reinforce fundamentals.
He has all the tools to be really good, just needs to work on handle and play smarter on defense.
