Student interest potentially lacked as the musical performer was of less interest. Maybe less $ available?

My son's both go to SJU and waiting for tix for the 2021 tip off they said it was a total S show there only one booth open and took hours, that's said they did not go this year for that reason. We need get better at this kind of stuff.
 
Since when does the infamously unreliable student fanbase predetermine the talent outlook of prior year rosters? Word had to of spread quickly how out of touch the music choice was. How do you decide on a Los Angeles D-list rapper that not one of these kids can get excited about? Bringing in a big time NY DJ and calling it a dance party would've been a more productive way of garnering excitement.

It's sad to see that last night was poorly attended bc the event has been a success for years. Our prospective HS recruits and most importantly the kids on this roster deserve better. To read that the newly installed audio and video was malfunctioning is an absolute disgrace.

Ultimately it is up to this fanbase, students excluded to show up and show out all of Fall and Winter.

I still don't understand how they can't parlay the connection they have with top artist J. Cole who is alum and has affinity for the bball program to get up & coming talent to perform that kids want to see. As well, leverage him through social media.

And for NIL , I’m he has business interests as well.
 
Watched it on YouTube and it looked pretty full except for the upper sections. Likely poorly marketed on campus and among the numerous student groups and Greeks.
Back in the day we went to get a look at our TEAM.
Now kids need a hip hop artist to draw them for a FREE event. Duke we are not.
Given how the climate has changed on college campuses I'm surprised the lack of attendance hasn't been blamed on climate change (hint: Carnesecca arena has no climate), Putin's war in Ukraine, the ticket supply chain, lack of LGBTQ seating or planned Parenthood.
 
No excuse to not have the the lower seats (Courtside area) filled up, looked terrible when watching it. This is Seatchart 101.

not sure if just missed it or made an assumption that this was an exclusively student thing. While the format is geared to students (and should be), should probably market to season ticket holders until student engagement gets to the necessary level.

I watched the YouTube broadcast and saw that our guys are very athletic (albeit in a layup and drunk fest). Was there any entertainment that would attract the students?
 
Do I have to watch that video or will one of our posters give an player by player assessment in return for a $19.99 commitment to Red Storm Marketing or whatever the NIL thing is called. ;)
