Seth Greenberg (two-time ACC Coach of the year, turnaround specialist (Long Beach State, USF, Va Tech), Long Island native).
Tim Cluess (170-53 career, St John's man)
Mitch Henderson (Princeton)

You can add Shaka Smart to the list, but he already makes more than St John's pays Lavin and is at a better program that seems to have an interest in winning and being relevant, so I don't think he'd be interested.

Wrong.... it is time for StJohns to do what many big time schools do and hire a management consulting firm to conduct a search rather than attempt to do it ih house under the supervision of Mr. Monasch. Yes, there are consulting companies whose principal business is to guide colleges in the selection of process to hire the best candidate.

I just started my own thread didnt see this one..so I apologize..I was thinking about PJ...His name was thrown at me before Lavin was hired, and he did coach with K for the olympics, and has good success in NJ, and with the Nets last season, and is available..

Mike Jarvis,Light

I don't know if I'd go that far by calling Pearl, "Jarvis Light." He certainly deserves another chance, but some schools may be afraid to pull the trigger with him. But I do expect him to be coaching in one of the 'Big Six' conferences again very soon, if not next season.

Pearl practically beat up the SEC outside of Kentucky.

Can't be hired until the show cause expires I thought.

Forget his age, it's discriminatory. Larry Brown would leave SMU in a NY Minute for the St John's Job..
He's HOF and would have this team winning in 2 years.
Hell, he might be even be able to get this group of players to win.

Aside from Tim cluess are there any other St. John's guys competent enough to turn us around. Bruce pearl looks like a sexy hire but I don't think he would go for us. Where is Ben Howland right now lol

It expires after this season, if I'm correct.

Tim Cluess is not a St John's guy. He left SJU for Hofstra

With this same crop of players I bet LB would have us 5-0 in BE play

I think masiello and Hurley have to be two names on top of the list...I really don't think lavin is our coach by summer....I also see Jordan and obekpa leaving the program, just my 3 cents

Article says August

Pearl is allowed to Coach after August of this year. He was the guy I wanted when we hired Lavin. Was told not good hire because he was a Jew by some here!

Lol you are right. Let me rephrase that. Are there any potential coaches out there with strong ties to the university?

I hear Frank Layden is available (he was asked to head up the panel when Coach retired, and was GM of the Jazz at the time)

Ridiculous assertion - Cluess came from the pre-eminent family of St. john's basketball, with three brothers all starting on varsity before he arrived on campus. As the youngest brother, he LITERALLY grew up on SJU basketball watching brothers Hank, Greg, and Kevin start and star here. He had bad knees, and the same fierce desire that fires him now, he still wanted to see daylight. He left to play and pursue a degree at Hofstra, and NEVER stopped closely following SJU bball - to this day. To me, he's the next coach, if Lavin is to ever leave. He also lives less than 10 minutes from campus

The jets did that and we finally got a gm who doesn't dole out big money guaranteed contracts
