Have to add Dayton
Elite eight bound
And what happens when Dayton goes back to being Dayton for years to come? Do people really think that just b/c they've had this nice run they are suddenly going to become a basketball power and make deep runs in the tournament each year? I could be wrong but something tells me Dayton will be this year's George Mason of a few years ago, and not a new Gonzaga of the past 10 years.
Dayton has a great history and they draw and travel like crazy. They are a must...if we added them, Wichita State, and St. Louis when I wanted in 2012 we wouldn't be in this spot.
Yes they draw & travel very well, but their basketball success over the last 40 years has been limited to sporadic success at best.
1970s - only 2 NCAA appearances
1980s - only 2 NCAA appearances
1990s - only 2 NCAA appearances
2000 - 2010 - 4 NCAA appearances
and this is mostly playing against Mid-Major competition such as teams in the Horizon League, the Midwestern Collegiate Conference & the Great Midwest Conference. They are a solid program, don't get me wrong, but 10 NCAA appearances in the last 40 plus years is what worries me. It's bad enough our last 10 years has mirrored their last 40 :yell:
