As the regular season comes to a close, I want to say thank you to a number of people who made it very affordable to attend a number of games this season for a fraction of what it would have cost to buy season tickets. I don't need to name names as you know who you are.
I also have to thank St. John's for scheduling games at UBS. I know its not the most popular place on here and it pales in comparison to the MSG experience, but it was very affordable to attend games there in a more comfortable environment then CA, which while I love its history led to many chiropractic visits over the years. It's probably not sustainable as a venue for more than 1 or 2 games a season.
I do plan to return to CA particularly for whatever Big East games we play there but I enjoy UBS more.
The COVID period was a very difficult time for me on a number of levels. Until the Hofstra game in December, I had not been to a St. John's game since February of 2020. While I probably didn't miss much from a winning standpoint, I missed the game experience. Attending games with my son, daughter, wife and good friends and experiencing the games with others. This certainly includes the 114 gang led by who I consider a friend in Mike Maher. You can mention his name because like he says he puts it on here every day that he posts.
This season I believe I was able to attend the following games -
Hofstra UBS
Providence MSG
Marquette MSG
UCONN MSG
DePaul UBS
Seton Hall UBS
Creighton MSG
Georgetown MSG - Will be there
I even could have went to the game at Georgetown but Seton Hall was hard on me. Outside of that game and even that served its purpose, I enjoyed each one more than the next. The Marquette game was fantastic even though we lost and the Creighton game was the best game I attended since Ponds lit up Marquette at Carnesecca.
Unfortunately I gave up my season tickets after COVID and maybe I will subscribe again next season but thank you to those of you of who gave me free or discounted tickets. It sincerely meant a lot to me and helped me to attend the UCONN game where I treated myself. I hope I can give back to others as I get back into the swing of things.
I will continue to donate to this site and Otis within reason let us know what you need us to do to keep it going.
After the Georgetown game I am making some sacrifices to try and attend the quarterfinals particularly if we play Thursday Afternoon. Not sure about the semis but that's getting a little ahead of myself.
I really enjoyed getting to meet or see again a number of you this season, even with are getting old and dont always remember each others names. I would like to meet more of you so if you are going to be at the Georgetown game let me know.
Fingers crossed about the NCAA's and while I have no intention to going to Dayton(nothing personal to the city and one of my good friends son is a student there), I might even entertain getting to an NCAA tournament game. I have been to an NCAA tournament game but for one for one reason or another have never seen St. John's in one in person. I get there having been many this century but you know what I mean.
If not this year, hopefully next.
Thank you everyone for making this such a wonderful community and God bless you Paul. Every day I am making it t a goal to be a kinder and gentler poster. If I have ever annoyed anyone I apologize and lets forget the past. Life is too short.
I am going to be 54 in June but am still a kid at heart. Thank you Blink 182 for the beautiful song that made life make sense again.
