We have a very good shooting team overall and honestly it could even be better. Guys like Trimble could be hitting better. Ponds and Clark also are good enough to be higher. Offensively we have a balanced team. Our offense hasn’t even started clicking yet. Defense and offensive boarding I won’t even speak about...

He isn’t an Anthony Glover. If I’m wrong at least I’ve convinced myself. I think his numbers pick up whenever Keita comes back

Agree MJ.

Also think Ponds’ numbers would be better if he hadn’t taken some bad shots in first few games. Realize the comp isn’t the best, but he has been a magician this year. Scores at will. Very special player whether he gets drafted or not.

I will admit that I prematurely thought Heron might be as good or better. But, I was WRONG. And, that is no knock on Heron who is very good and will get better as he realizes that he doesn’t have to force shots/drives. Season ticket holder since ‘74 and can unequivocally say Ponds is one of the best I’ve seen at SJ.

I’ve said the same and I agree 100%. Clark is a money shooter that should be closer to 50%. He’s being stretched a bit.

It just looks to me that Simon is thinking a little too much on his foul shots and on his open threes. Looked more comfortable last year. Hopefully staff can get him to relax.

If Trimble only shot when he was squared up he would make a higher %. He seems to be catch and shoot too often when he has more time

Yeah, he still seems like he has jitters out there. Afraid to dribble and a little too quick to shoot, but I think can be excellent shooter if he l’d slow the game a little bit mentally.

Top 50 in the country, just behind Providence. Creighton is second. No other Big East teams in the mix. I expect Clark to improve.Dixon shooting a higher % from 3 than the foul line. Almost 86% from the line as a freshman. Strange.

A few of takeaways
1. I really wish people would stop that Clark playing out of position nonsense. Outside of Rutgers game we really have not played a Big with size and any skill. On offense he basically plays small forward and game has not changed from last year. He started off badly but shooting better now because he has a nice touch. By end of year his % will be around what it was last year I bet.

2. I really enjoy watching Earlington shoot threes. He has great exit velocity on his misses. Hope he gets to shoot more as it means we are winning big. In fact a good barometer of how our season has gone will be the number of Earlington three point attempts at end of season.

3. Dixon is a good spot up shooter. Too bad he doesn't pay attention / try on D or he would get more attempts and minutes. Plus more PT for him would mean less for Trimble. If Dixon defends, once Keita comes back Trimble would / should be odd man out. Sadly bet this wont happen.

4. Listen Trimble only plays because Dixon doesn't defend. He plays hard on defense. HOWEVER. He is aware that he you know he is allowed to shoot inside the line every now again, right? Like he is not wearing that Running Man collar where his head will explode if he crosses the three point line, right?

Plus we have four guys shooting infinity.

And your posts are a good barometer on how little some on here know basketball. And yes, as I have posted before, I know Earlington a bit and he is every bit a person to be admired- he has more class in any one of his digits than you exhibit with these stupid potshots at him. He is essentially transitioning to a sport that used to be secondary to him but nonetheless you should be very proud of yourself for attempting to ridicule a teenager every chance you get..

Lol
He is not a good shooter. Comes in games and is so excited to shoot that he takes shots that he shouldn't be taking. Ever! Seen it done at every level of basketball. Guys who come in at end of games should probably not try to do what they can't because it stands out negatively. Not a pot shot.
KOB who still posts from time to time who I have actually met had a legit relationship with Justin Burrell. Not a relationship where you live in same town and saw him play a couple times. He used to express anger whenever someone criticized JB and I explained it is a fan forum and as long as it is not personal shots then who cares. KOB agreed and understood.
So yes Earlington's jumper is um...not good. Most likely not his shot and if he was playing would not take it. Also shoots as soon as he gets it which being the 8th man on my HS team I totally understand as I did the same thing. I did hit the rim more frequently however. Hope Earlington stays 4 years and becomes a good player for us. In the meantime I do enjoy his three point shots and hope he gets to shoot a bunch this year.

And if you have a problem with that...well then I could care less as I don't think I have ever even read one of your posts before the one you responded to.

I’m convinced Clark lower numbers is from playing out of position with Keita out and guarding guys he wouldn’t normally guard and wearing himself out. He isn’t an Anthony Glover. If I’m wrong at least I’ve convinced myself. I think his numbers pick up whenever Keita comes back
I agree and I think the same with Trimble also. Once Keita comes back hopefully everything will fall into place for these guys.

The thing about him that I’ve noticed on him a lot is I really like the effort he puts in on D and when he’s is backed up down low he is physical with his body. He might not get big rebound numbers but emhe puts in a lot of work at times on bigger guys

When a player gets in a zone, the game slows down for him. He sees and feels opportunities, kind of like he's a 45 rpm record playing against 33 rpm. (younger guys ask your parents what a record is). You can feel the spaces you create taking the ball to the hoop jaggedly, you know precisely how much time you have to shoot down to milliseconds, you can even feel and anticipate where the ball is going on defense and play those lanes. Ponds does this perfectly when in a zone. Trimble is not remotely close to playing as well as he can, and needs to find a comfort level where the game starts to come to him. I suspect his upside is much higher than he is playing right now.
