THIS Season (formerly Next Season)

Looks like Balamou will be our best players this year (yeah I know it's early, and lets see what he does in B.E. play.)
More good #s last night: In 31minutes 14pnts on 5/7 shooting, 5assts, 5 boards boards and 1STL.
Real solid #s again.
Who would have ever thought. Could go out with a bang this year which is good to see .

You just went with the #sjubb tag. Dude, St. John’s stinks this year. No reason to talk about them.

Really Jeff, really............

plus this

Pick your adjective: Atrocious, pitiful, dismal, appalling. Duke lit up the scoreboard for 94 points on the Hoosiers on Wednesday night, and this is a group that also allowed 82 in a loss to Wake Forest and 73 in a win over a bad St. John's team. Sure, Tom Crean's team can score, but the goal is also to stop the opponent,

Mullin says he is like a Swiss Army Knife.

Well, after a few games, I was wondering how our team will continue the rest of the season. Will we try to compete to win games or sacrifice our record to begin to implement a program for the future? Do we have the players to adequately work the program? How flexible will the staff be with future efforts? What type of team are we supposed to be now?
Next question!

I thought that was cute! Liked Knight's inquiry as well!!
We are all interested and excited.
That to me overshadows Ws and Ls!!!

You play to win. period. The best players deserve to play and will play. This roster is so thin that if you don't deserve to play there isn't much of a future for you anyway

So the game plan has to fit the personnel. I do not see that we have the team to run the run-and-gun offense that Coach wants to utilize. How do we adapt?

We also don't pass well enough to play the halfcourt game.

Our only chance to win might be to hoist up a ton of 3 pointers, and hope that enough of them go in on some nights, for victory (we have decent enough shooters to make this possible, IMO).

As much as this sounds harsh we don't have the personnel equipped to implement any winning "system". I hardly think we are playing a run and gun offense, we attempt to run when it presents itself but we are limited even when we do have the chance. We are trying to pass and cut and move the ball to the open man and shoot when you have the shot. When we have the personnel I am sure we will push the ball more but it is "puzzling" to me that so many posters don't seem to understand that talent, experience, size and speed factors define this team, not style or strategy.

Absent the personnel to run the high-power offense, I'd like us to be a defense oriented team, pressing frequently. Do we have the horses to execute a D-oriented team?

In plain and simple English no we do not. Not even sure we have 10 scholarship players without Ellison , Williams and Lovett.
Next year , next year. Support the team don't get too upset over the losses and savour the wins. They will be few and far between.

Team obviously needs to play better D. Due to a general lack of team speed, we need to concentrate on an aggressive zone. I think that will allow us to hide some of our deficiencies.
I also think that Ellison needs more work before he is ready for prime time.
