The Recognition Has Started

We want Nova beating the Cuse because we will play Nova twice, possibly three times and the BE Conference RPI would be stronger if Nova wins.

Exactly. Short term, as in the next week, it would be better for SJU to have Cuse win. But long term for the entire season, Nova's ranking is more important than Cuse's.

Want Nova to go undefeated in out of conference play... along with the rest of the conference.

Exactly. I see three games with Nova and everyone we play in conference plays Nova at least twice. RPI calls for us to root for Nova. It's important for the Big East to kick the ACC while it's down.

Syracuse is still going to win 19-21 games this year and a loss @ Nova does nothing to take away from our quality win @ the Dome.

I'd rather Nova win, remain undefeated, and get a top 5 ranking for our match up on January 6th in The Garden. Hopefully we'll both have #s before our names...take care of business and they will both be single-digit #s as well.

But if nova loses they will still be a top 15 team when we play them... Plus we haven't beaten them yet. Syracuse getting ranked would be good because it is a win we already have.

Obviously it isn't good to have a big east team lose to the likes of that shady program, but I'm just looking out for our team and trying to make sure we have the best resume possible.

If Nova beats Cuse and Cuse remains unranked, then will it really help the RPI that much? And what if we lose twice to Nova? It's all hypothetical at this point, of course, but I'd rather take the road win that's in the bag already and have it count for as much as possible.

This is a good point, but I rather see BE win as many games as possible OOC and for Syracuse to play well in all their other games this season. ( think mathematically, RPI wise it's better for SJU if Nova wins no matter what.

"And what if we lose twice to Nova?"
Negative thinking I see. It's gonna take some time to change the losing culture.
After you watch the 15-20pnt win vs. SMU, will you finally trust me?
NO MORE IF WE LOSE NONSENSE, GOTTA BELIEVEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Say it with me WEEEEEEEEEE GOTTTTTTTTTTTA BELIEVE.

Predicting that losing to a top 10 team twice as a possibility when are 0-5 against them the last few years is not negative thinking, just flat out realistic. Which is why I kinda wanna see a cuse win

For argument, let's assume we lose both games vs. Nova. I still think our RPI would be higher if Nova beats Cuse. Not positive if I'm correct here.

Counter argument is what you said, that we'd have a big win on the resume. But Syracuse plays a lot of tough teams in ACC so I rather root for them then. I actually rooted for them yesterday lol.

I'll ask you this.
Does this years team look the same as past years? Nope
So nah Nova isn't sweeping us this year.
Split at worst

Great to see new fans active on the board!

Folks, relax. As long as we beat who is on our schedule we control our own destiny. Personally I'd love to see Syracuse and every ACC team lose until conference play begins. We have plenty of opportunities to pick up quality wins starting with a very good SMC this Friday & some school named Duke. Villanova. Butler, G'Town are all potential resume building wins. Right now even Seton Hall (receiving votes) Creighton & Xavier are teams that might help if we beat them. Bottom line is that we need to win these games. If we start out of the gate like we did in conference play last year it won't matter if Syracuse was number 1 when we beat them.

Scotchie boy!

Want to see Nova win. Good for the BE. We control our own destiny, just keep on winning. Hopefully we could split w Nova.

So here's a question:

Do we want cuse to beat nova??
Taxi thing dictates we want the Cuse to get pounded in every game they play and their program to go into the toilet. I could never root for ACC team vs. our beloved BE.

I don't know. The big east is tough. I wouldn't be shocked if we go 12-6 and I wouldn't be shocked if we pull a 9-9. So it would be convenient if Syracuse gets ranked so our win looks even better to help our case.

How about 14-4 in the B.E.? To go along with 11 OOC wins.
That's no bubble, plus getting to the B.E. finals atleast.

Yea that's a scenario too. I just don't wanna get too crazy. Our best win is Syracuse and they aren't looking good right now. I know it is easy to get really excited but I don't wanna freak out yet. Don't underestimate the level of competition we will be seeing this year in conference play. We are ranked right now but it is a long way to even make the tournament.

A Syracuse win against nova will make our win look better, and Nova RPI wouldn't be as strong if they lost but it would still be top notch.

I want the BE to win as many OOC games as possible. It is more important to build the reputation of the league then to worry about any possible RPI consequences. If Nova wins and we beat Nova it is even better.
