Admittedly did not think much of this Duke team coming into the tournament. Think they lose against a healthy Shead but… survive and advance
Love your enthusiasm! Go Duke !Effin Puke wins.
Who’s we?Horrific day for the Big East and college hoops in general.
Marquette plays worst game of season and goes down to State.
Creighton beaten by a better Tennessee team
A poorly coached and always overated Puke team beats an even more over rated Houston team who, as they did against Iowa State, couldn’t find their offense.
And to make matters worse, we must now root for Hurley and Yukon to win it all. My stomach is turning.
So in other words we have 3 of the top 16 teams In the country, anything but shabby for the conference.Horrific day for the Big East and college hoops in general.

If you watched them much this year, with Dukes talent level and returning players they clearly underachieved. In terms of how they beat a one seed, that one seed was Houston who has been playing awful ball of late. I’m sure you’ve seen Houston’s 28 point loss to Iowa State which with a selection committee that had brains would have taken them off a one seed or barely squeaking by an A and M team. Duke had the benefit of playing a team that was clearly not worthy of a one seed. Hope this helps. So in other words we have 3 of the top 16 teams In the country, anything but shabby for the conference.
If Duke is so poorly coached and overrated I am trying to understand how they are in the Elite Eight ? And they beat a top seed to get there.
Seems they must be either well coached or deserving of their ranking.

Strange? Nothing strange about it. When you lose by 28 points in your conference championship while only scoring 41 points, there’s clearly something wrong.Huh?
ONE blowout loss made Houston not worthy of a one seed? Tough crowd.
Houston lost their best player in the middle of the game against Duke. Likely why they lost. Houston is not in the AAC anymore. They went 28-3 while playing in the big 12.
In the reg season, they won games over Dayton, A&M, Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech
In March they also beat Tech and A&M again.
Saying they weren’t worthy of a 1 seed is such a strange take when they didn’t even lose at full strength last night (and only lost by 3!)
The committee doesn’t make decisions based off one bad half of basketball lolStrange? Nothing strange about it. When you lose by 28 points in your conference championship while only scoring 41 points, there’s clearly something wrong.
I think St. John’s should have been a 1 seed. The committee doesn’t make decisions based off one bad half of basketball lol
Also, if you’re making the case that they shouldn’t have been a one seed, name the 2 seed that should have taken their place. Because you can poke holes in any of their resumes too
St John’s should have been a “some” seed.I think St. John’s should have been a 1 seed.
Too soon? Well, we have to have one anyway.
Quick predictions, have not studied the bracket:
UConn repeats
Marquette chokes
Purdue gets beat by a faster team
Houston doesn't score enough to win
LMF roots for Boise State and his guy O'Mar Stanley
Happy Saturday morning!!Unfortunately for the BE, I very sadly think it doesn’t matter one bit how they do in regards to the NCAA; very Uber important for the Fox contract. The selections (or lack of), the ridiculously asinine “moving target justifications” different criteria for different teams from the NCAA, and the even more ridiculously asinine non-response response from the BE “leadership” just screams to me that if you are in the BE, you better be in the top echelon of teams all year, be highly rated, because the NCAA, the P5 conferences, and Disney (ESPN) just threw down the gauntlet.
So the most important response, tournament wise, from the BE, IMO, needs to come from the “Repoles” and the talent evaluators for each respective team. SJU either didn’t have the time, the $, or just didn’t do a great job evaluating last year but they need to do WAY better this time around because there is no longer time to hit your stride 20-25 games into the season.
So, after waffling on the NIT decision, I have no problem with SJU deciding to put 100% of their effort into next year because “tradition” is dead. The last few days couldn’t have provided a clearer view of the “brave new world” of college sports, CBB style. No time to waste, IMO, living in the past. I hate it that that is what it has become but the only constant in life is change; adapt or be left behind.
One last, even sadder point to me; I echo lawmanfan’s post in another thread regarding watching players develop. I can see where the situation for some really good HS players may opt to “play down” if you will, to get the playing time to cash in their second year. It is now pretty much all about the portal, and I wonder if the “Wilchers and Dunlaps” going forward will be willing to essentially sit a year in the future. And I am curious as to what SJU is offering them NIL wise to stay on what is basically still a “potential” situation for both. Very tricky because money management now is very front and center vital to the health of college programs.
This stuff beats the free agency crap
Did we make an effort to recruit either one and would there have been any interest on their part?Nice to see a couple of model citizen type buys still alive in Dance in Toby Awaka of Cardinal Hayes at Tenn & Mike O’Connell of Chaminade at NC State.
Got in late with Toby and not MikeDid we make an effort to recruit either one and would there have been any interest on their part?
