The NCAA Tournament Thread

The BEC got mighty lucky, beating two good-but-inconsistent PAC 12 teams. Oregon should have beaten Creighton (who woke in the last 2 1/2 minutes of the 2nd OT) and Marquette squeaked by Colorado.
Marquette and Creighton had best improve markedly the next two weeks, or the Hoop World's view of the Big East as UCONN and a gaggle of meh teams will be reinforced.

So were Oregon and Colorado good or bad against Creighton and Marquette? And IMO anyone who uses tournament results to justify selections or rejections supposedly based on a season’s body of work should turn in their Hoop World’s membership card.

I don’t think anyone is gonna look at a 1, 2 & 3 seed from the same conference all getting to S16 as lucky or proof of a meh conference. At worst it will prove that there are 3 good teams in the BE.

I mean, does anyone really remember how all of the conferences fared in last year's tournament?

An 11 seed that should've won in regulation taking a 3 seed deep into the 2nd OT before the heavy favorite pulled away, and a play-in 10 seed taking a 2 seed into the last minute of regulation before Marquette eked out a win?
The facts answer your question.
Hoop World savants weigh in on the last results, especially in the Dance.
Not happy about it, but the BEC has no cushion for error in the current college sports scene where football-powered conferences dominate the air waves and college-sports revenues.

I can't imagine the guys on the NCAA committee next year spending a second on what Big East teams did this year. They don't have it to spare as they will be working overtime on how to justify some undeserving teams in the field they are tossing in.

Same as it ever was.

They have been favorite in all 5 wins so far... UConn being a 15pt fave tonight. The Committee respected UConn/Marq/Creighton- ranking the 3 of them in the Top10.... It's the rest of the conf they weren't impressed with...

Seeing 3 of them in the Final 4... completely diff story and I think that will Def change the perception of the League

I agree. Losing to low seeds in the round of 32 would've looked bad, but wins are wins and details are lost in the final score as the wins continue.
Three BEC teams in the Final Four would be fingers-in-the eyes of the Committee.
Here's hoping.

You were the one who said the PAC-12 teams were good but inconsistent, so if they played “good” those games are nice wins, hence the question which you didn’t answer.
And frankly, I have little, really no respect, for “Hoop World savants” whatever and whoever they are. The gauntlet has already been thrown down against the BE, results have NOTHING to do with what happened and what will happen in the future. It is strictly and utterly about the greed and politics associated with the $. Interpretation of results will just be means to a predetermined end, just like the “follow the bouncing ball“ multiple criteria employed by the NCAA team by team justifying the non-selections.

Purdue playing in Indianapolis is ridiculous. No team should be able to play in their home state for an NCAA Tournament game unless it’s the Final Four and it just happens to be there.
