Thanks!

Couldn't be prouder of this team because they kept fighting all year. Credit to Anderson and staff. No whining, no drama, just good old fashioned hard work and toughness. I really think we are going in the right direction. One thing I love about Anderson is he's not satisfied. The guy came here hungry to win and to prove he can do it in NY. So far everything is on track.

This season had some big highs and excitement and gut wrenching for me turns ( parts of big east play and the metdowns )

Kids didnt quit. CMA didnt stop believing. I see him in the huddle coaching and it makes me relieved.

Funnest part for me was seeing kids like Earlington develop. These are all kids and staff we can be proud to root for in the future

The most enjoyable season to watch in many years. It's never fun to lose, but more palatable when you know your team gave it everything in every game.

After reading/lurking redmen.com for years, I can say that this is the most unanimously upbeat I have seen our fans at the end of a season. The comments throughout about coaches and players are all deservedly positive and upbeat. Can't wait for October and the open practice to come.

And we completely lucked into the staff. People who have no business anywhere near a basketball team almost made this a very different looking season. I don't think we win the games we did with Porter Moser at the helm. Or James Jones.
Thanks to CMA, Van, Steve, TJ & a great bunch of easy to root for kids! Been fun & future bright!

Great post. CMA and the boys exceeded my expectations and certainly raised hopes for the future. Well done by all...
One last thing. While watching the game today the announcers mentioned that Justin Cole was in the game. Everything is kind of melding together whether I was watching the Creighton game 1st half or G’Town 2nd half. I don’t know if he really thought he could help or just acknowledged the kid but if I heard correctly (that he played) that was a wonderful gesture to get him in the BE Tournament.
IMO Justin was in the game yesterday, just as he has been in several games down the stretch, to spell some of the other kids and give us a few quality minutes off the bench. And he did exactly that when called upon. Kudos and thanks to a kid who gave our program 4 years, and will leave school as a Pharmacist I am told.

A lot of ups and downs this year, but the easiest 17-15 team to ever recruit for. Seem like a great group of kids and really hard workers. Looking forward to the future.

17.5-15 :p

Agree with all that has been said. Season ended as good as expected down the stretch with injuries. Mike Anderson was fantastic and squeezed the most of of these kids this season. There was zero quit in these kids. This was one of the only SJU teams I’ve seen that could literally get crushed in one half and make a total comeback the next. We were gonna beat Creighton in the BET too, ive got news for you.

Great group of kids and fantastic, engaged coaching staff. I hope Mike Anderson rides out the rest of his career here. This is the style of ball I’ve always wanted to see at SJU.

.... so much for the nay sayers in the media last year who claimed Coach Anderson would fail because he wasn’t a “New Yorker”.

To the contrary CMA has been a great hire. CMA has installed a culture hard work (see 5 am workouts), next man up (when a teammate goes down w/ injury), and mutual respect,

A memorable moment occurred during the Marquette game when Nick Rutherford was called for a Technical after making a comment to a Marquette player. CMA called Nick over to speak, took his arm to make him look him in the eye - - gave Nick at tongue lashing but concluded the discussion with a fatherly pat on Nick’s back for encouragement. CMA exemplifies the traits that a coach should have with his player.

I never thought we could be as optimistic about the future of St.John’s basketball as we are finishing 9th place in the Conference with a record of 17.5 and 15.

I m a believer.

Don't forget to add to the media naysayers all those knuckleheads on that other unreadable "jumped the shark" forum.

I will always remember a tweet by Syracuse hack Jonah Schwartz of SNY knocking Anderson hire for lack of NY experience.

This is one thing he failed to mention:
A good coach is a good coach anywhere you place him
A slimy coach like his boy Boeheim is a slimy coach anywhere you put him too.

Coach Anderson has been an absolute godsend. You can tell these kids love playing for this guy.

I cant wait to see what this team can do with penny, duke, williams, dunn and the 4 guys coming in. The NCAA tourney is a lock next year and a top 4 Big East finish is too.

Major strides for this program next year.

I hope all of this excitement leads to many season ticket subscriptions. This was a really enjoyable year to go to games, and it appeared to me that our fans who went to games were much more engaged cheering on our team than in the past. I would say that even with the mandatory donation, our brand of basketball was a much better value than watching the Knicks or Nets.

Assume H S coaches have noticed that M S brings all of his players to a higher level then could ever have been expected

While I appreciate and share your enthusiasm for the future of our program, I wouldn’t throw around the word “lock” so freely. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, there may only have been one lock in the history of college basketball...

I’m gonna ask you who? And you’re gonna say exactly!

But seriously who is that guy

And, for the record CMA is now 1-0, or 1.5-0 in BE Tournament play. Likely the only coach in BE history who has coached in at least one BE tournament and has no losses.

Nothing gets by Paultz. The only “lock” in college basketball...Rob Lock.
