I just think Brady and Jaiden knew they were likely getting recruited over and wanted to go down a level where they will get more time. Sounds likely that they will both end up in A10 which may be perfect for them at this time. By all accounts they still have love for St. John's

RJ is a different story, a story I don't fully know. But from what I have heard it sounds like him and his family really have their sights set on going pro

I get the outward explanations, and they all make sense, especially in a new era.

But still and all, who would want to bail on the best season in their lives playing for a HOF coach who put the entire roster in the national spotlight?

It's possible the old school screaming and cursing may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially in 2025.

Throw in that Rick is the best teacher anywhere and each kid has miles to improve, i don't fully buy the surface stuff as reasons.

These kids all want significant playing time especially today when it leads directly to immediate financial rewards. The RJ situation is sui generis but Glover & Brady don't appear to be anything more than the desire to have a bigger role than they'd have for us next year and plenty of opportunity to get that by transferring down a level.
 
Unfortunately , with the ascent of the Team to the Number 1 position in the BE , we didn’t get to see much of Glover .

Scott and KR , 2 experienced College players kind of made PT scarce for him . Which , other than practice time , he didn’t see the Court in any meaningful way.
Lefty and Prey , to a lesser extent also didn’t play much early either. Also too, Glover suffered the hand injury that didn’t help him either .

Last year , Wilcher didn’t get much PT either as RP was trying to figure out whether he was a PG or a SG .


The game today doesn’t allow some very sought after HS players who are a notch below the Flagg , Sanon , Jackson , etc level to get much in regular Season Games PT .

Also , Pitno is a very strict task master and not many 18 year olds can absorb that transition very easily .

Consensus seems to be that Glover might be more suited to just a notch below BE level competition . Which he will get at St Joseph’s .

We all wish Jaden much success next season .

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the reason and this is definitely the case with Dunlap. It was written that Glover was having difficulty adjusting and Wilcher was trying to help him. Glover sees one new wing on board and two recently visiting and sees more of the same role next year and doesn’t want to sit again. With Hopkins on board any thoughts of Zuby moving to the four to start is out the window and despite Marrillac’s endorsement, Maker was not going to take minutes from either Prey or Vince. We also offered a Juco center so Maker is bouncing. Could Rick’s style and manner had something to do with it, possibly but I doubt if a favor it was the driving one.

Not sure why the previous “No Contact”
designation was brought up. It’s nothing new, indicates the person has a program or programs in mind already and allows them to control it. Sanon and Lee have such designations IIRC.

Lastly, this generation moves around a lot. They don’t stay with the same company for as long as past generations do. That has just trickled down to sports.

Wilcher averaged 25.5 minutes a game.
 
He wants to play. In the NIL age, playing well builds value and enables a sizable raise for wherever he choses to go into the next year. These guys realize this is their time to build wealth for them and their families. If he thinks his time next year will be limited, I don't blame him for leaving.

Beast I would have liked all 3 to stay for continuity reasons.

That said, let's use Glover and Dunlap as examples.

They arguably play the same position, which eats into their respective minutes. If you assume Dunlap might be able to give you some time at the 4, well we have Hopkins and Prey already in the fold. And are actively recruiting Mitchell. If you assume Glover can play the 2, we already have Wilcher, Sanon and Lefty already in the fold. And are actively recruiting Sellers (plus Jackson, who could be an option there).

If you look at both Glover and Dunlap as 3s, in addition to competing with each other for minutes, you have (a) Sanon who could get some run there depending on how the roster shakes out; (b) Sellers who could get run there depending on the same; (c) are actively recruiting Jackson; and (d) have Ayo coming back, who no doubt will get minutes because of his defense, ability to shoot the 3, and knowledge of what Pitino wants to do.

When I think of that context, I get why both kids left in this era. Especially when a big season next year at a different stop will put them in line to move to a different program for perhaps more $.

I don't like it, but it is what it is.

Correct Mike. The mid to low majors are the minor league farm system for the upper tier. Prove yourself there for 2 years and then move up to the big leagues for a big pay day
 
Both Brady and Glover had big defensive deficiencies and were never going to get major minutes next year. Glover is the better overall talent but his lack of length relegate his major minutes to the shooting guard position in a Power 5 environment.
Looked the most unhappy on the bench and I fully expected him to portal.
