Thank You and Good Luck Sim

Agree but in this case 2 of the 3 players brought in similar to Sim are both a year behind Sim in Jackson and Sanon.
Sellers is the one that has me shaking my head. His first two years show nothing better than Wilcher yet staff felt compelled to bring him in over an existing player. I thought they prided themselves on development?

Sellers is here now but I will believe he will have a better year than Wilcher when he has it. Not rooting against him just dubious.

That ACC was atrocious, he is stepping up in class.

Sucks. Every championship caliber team has four good guards. Assuming Jackson comes aboard we will have three. Need that PG desperately. Lefty as the 5th guard backs up.

No guardrails = Mid-level programs devastated
No guardrails = Low level Division 1 programs Extinct
No guardrails = High School kids inconsequential or insignificant

I agree 100 percent but now mid-levels are going to have to accept being a farm system and will actually prob take more top high school kids then they were before by virtue of this market shift. The coaches of the power schools are going to pay closer attention and will prob build up relationships with some of these mid-major coaches as the mid-majors will realize the best will be there for a year or 2.

Other dynamics will also shift- what were once "solid mid-major" players may find themselves at a lower level by virtue of this new "high school funneling" better players lower based on roster construction. It will be college D-league essentially with all the money that has now tied itself to college sports. A "GM" of college programs would be unthinkable before this but now its a must and thankfully Matt is doing a good job for us.

Good luck to Sim. I think he has a shot at being really good this season, especially with Miller at Texas. Great teammate and face of the program. Now we MUST get Jackson, or else this will sting a lot more.

Well, good news for Amar as his streak now will continue a minimum of two more seasons. Eventually the school needs to bring him back and honor him.

Big time blow losing Sim. Kid had a ton of talent and was always a great contributor, cheerleader for the team, and advocate for St. John's University. Can argue back and forth that the team did him a disservice by recruiting over him, but what's done is done. If Ian does commit today and Rick brings in a starting PG then Sim really moves down the depth chart to be a guy that fills in like a utility player.

At this point, this is the best move for him. He can go to another school and probably start on day one and get significant minutes. Give him a good coach and good minutes and he will blossom. Best of luck to him, he deserves to prosper wherever he plays.

You saw this coming a mile away. Smart move by Sim. We recruited over him and his playing time would have been drastically reduced.

He will now move on and get a chance to be a starter somewhere else. No different than what brady and glover did.

Good luck to him.

How many times will you throw darts that miss the board so much that you hit the bartender before you stop throwing darts?

And unless the powers to be, whoever that is, allow two year player contracts and some rational transfer limits, this continues. Just think, we will right back there filling big gaps next year. Nice to have the NIL support we have, but some of the enjoyment of college ball is headed to extinction.
There are no limits on NIL contracts. The Tennessee QB had a four year contract. How did that work out?

The reason they are usually one year contracts is for the benefit of both sides. If it doesn’t work out, both sides have a simple out. A multi year contract might make it more messy but then again, scholarships are renewable and how do you stop a kid from transferring. Tennessee let the kid go and will use the remainder of the deal elsewhere while the kid will probably get more than that wherever he transfers too.

Sucks but I'm not broken up about it. Sim will get a fat bag ,and all will be well with life. I wish him well, just not against us.

Professional basketball on the college level is a wild game; it's polluted with bias, greed, and turnover.

Best bet is to root for the name on the front of the jersey, and pray Rick never retires.

Wanna root for a player, root for a real professional sports league and organization, like Judge, the Yankees, and MLB :)
"Best bet is to root for the name on the front of the jersey" Said that yesterday. Until some on this board come to that realization, they will be unhappy.

Be glad Zuby is back as the captain. Leaders like him help in this crazy portal world.

Just think what it would be like here if the players coming in were not better than the ones we are losing.

We have added 2 high 5-star recruits and an excellent shooter and ascending player in Sellers coming in and some are crying in their cheerios right now because Wilcher is leaving. I really like Sim as a person, but as Mkras said yesterday he is overrated from a skills standpoint. His handle is way to loose to be given PG responsibilities.

This is College Basketball 2025. It aint calming down until the Pitino 2 year contracts and reduced transfer opportunities are considered and implemented.

This makes me sick.

All of these kids need a 5th year. Just make it universal. The Covid kids get an extra year because they missed maybe a handful of games, but the freshman class two years ago doesn’t get a 5th year for having their careers ruined by grown men playing 5 and 6 years with immediate transfer eligibility?

GTFOH

Trying to fill out roster not necessarily recruited over. We need a deeper team. He will face positional competition wherever he goes.

Very sorry to hear - wish Sim all the best in Texas or wherever his journey takes him. Class act.
Very sad to see. We lost two great teammates in Sim and Brady. Sim was especially supportive and happy for Zuby during the emotional chants of Zu-by, Zu-by during the warmup line before the UVa game in the Bahamas, after the tough missed free throws against Baylor. I think the players bonded after that and the long-forgotten fiasco with Deivon after the Georgia game on the way home.

Sim's NIL money will be quickly redirected to get another transfer. College basketball is a business right now.
Many play checkers, Pitino plays chess
