Starting Lineup Next Season

Sima
Yakwe
Ahmed
Ponds
Mussini

Owens, Amir, Jones, Zack Baratheon, Ellison

Fine with me

It might be fine with you, but I'm not sure how it will sit for anyone taking the "over" on 20 wins.

Wouldn't Lovett be better off the ball also. He doesn't exactly look too pass.

The minute LoVett ever steps foot on a court with sju he becomes the best passer they've had since cook.

I was thinking of asking this last week, but there were not as many variables out there. So with Powerball approaching a billion, I thought I would give us a chance to try something with much better odds. OK, this is SJU basketball, so slightly better odds. A lot of posters should be right, but the first decision will be predicting the Lovett outcome. Get that one wrong, and it's like having your final four in your NCAA pool all losing the first week of the tourney. Next, you have to be right on Freudenberg signing. For extra credit, also predict the first player off the bench. That can't include Mullin chasing down a referee. Here's mine:

PG: Ponds (I can't go against Paultzman's shoe avatar, despite my hope Lovett stays)
SG: Mussini
SF: Freudenberg
PF: Yakwe
C: Sima
First off the bench: Ahmed
I filp flopped on Mussini Ahmed, but figure Chris will be like Looie and give the start to the guy that was here longer.

Starting lineups from scrimmages and exhibitions don't count.

So does this officially mean you have given up on this season? Not that it would be a surprise the way they have played but I like to think we will be in oblivion and suddenly awaken come BET time
Go Redmen!!! Where there is life, there is hope

Frustrating about LoVett if true. Was very excited about him. A backcourt of LoVett and Ponds has potential to be special. Fingers crossed he hangs around. If no LoVett....

Ponds
Mussini
Sima
Yakwe
Ahmed

Owens, Ellison and hopefully Freudenberg being the big contributors off the bench. Still a big improvement from this season. If LoVett leaves, would love to see the staff scramble and come up with another guy (transfer, juco, still available solid 2 or 3 star type guy) who can play some PG minutes when needed. Ponds is a great ball handler and he can pass but he's a scorer with a SG mentality. He'll have a longer adjustment period if he's asked to run the show.

I have the same optimism this season as I do on my stock certificates on Worldcom. Doesn't mean I won't watch; just looking ahead to better times and seeing if the predictions are true or, like the market, that volatility prevails over stability.

Not concerned too much about the starters, Mullin seems to be able to shuffle players in and out to keep them all engaged and involved.

Would like to see Yakwe getting lots of PT, setting a good defensive focus in the 1st half; and Sima jumping center, as this seems our best option.

Lovett

Agree but maybe not at first. Mussini will have the year of exp. on Lovett so I could see him getting the nod to start and later becoming sixth man.

Should we somehow land Alkins, this will be an insanely talented back-court that will see us playing a lot of three guard sets. I have no idea at that point what to expect, except Ponds at point. Would love to have the problem of seeing CM rotate Ponds/Lovett/Alkins/Mussini/Ahmed/Ellison.

First prize for the poster that correctly predicts the starting line-up should be a seat at the scorer's table. You will be so close to the action that you will be able to see the water line on Mullin's Perrier bottle and see the sweat on the back of his shirt, but, unfortunately, little else.

Staff is bringing in 2 guards and 2 forwards.
Sima, as a center, starts.
If the 4 newcomers (Freudenberg, Bashir, Ponds and Lovett) aren't better than all of the returnees, we're in deep shit.

No way.
Mussini's experience won't be enough to keep him in the starting lineup.
This team needs a true point guard in the worst way. Assuming Lovett is healthy and doesn't fall completely flat on his face.... he'll get all the playing time he can handle. In my opinion anyway.
Mussini will still see good time rotating in with Ponds and Lovett. But I dont see any way Lovett isn't the starter if he's eligible and healthy.

An absolute no brainier.
Day 1
Lovett
Mussini
Ahmed
Yakwe
Sima.

Top players off the bench are Ponds at the 1 and 2 , Owens at 4 and 5 and Richard F at 3 and 4 if he comes. Then Ellison , Amar, CJ and Williams.

Mussini may start because he played this year but I sure hope Ponds is better or we will be in for another long year.
