Fires Pose ‘Extreme’ Danger to Los Angeles
By THE NEW YORK TIMES
Los Angeles and other cities in Southern California are bracing for winds so strong “there will be no ability to fight fire,” the state’s firefighting chief warned.
Been told the wildfires in Southern California won't impact the St. John's-Arizona State game at Staples Center Friday night. Expected to be played. #sjubb
It is a game we could win but will be considered an upset if we do. It is a good challenge. With only eight players available staying out of foul trouble will likely be one of the key factors to how well we do.
“We are going to face a team on Friday that plays with such energy and works at it on defense,” Hurley said. “We had some situations today (Wednesday) where we put a sixth defender on the court just to run around and try to trap and make it a little more chaotic because they scramble very well on defense. They rotate very well and have great athletes with length, so it's a big test for us.”
4.5 point underdogs... wow that's pretty solid for an away game. I doubt LoVett will be in action, so we'll see if that changes.
ESPN gives us a 38.5% chance of winning.
So, good chance here for an incredible win. If we lose, no big deal. I didn't see anyone here saying we needed to go 2-0, just that they'd be happy with 1-1 (myself included). Nice to play a game for once that isn't a must win.
To my South Florida friends - if you have Comcast and buy the Sports and Entertainment Package ($4.95/month), you get the Pac 12 Network on Channel 764. It's not in HD but at least you can watch it
If you don't want to pay the $4.95/month, you can add the channel today, drop it tomorrow and only pay for 1 day of use (approximately 17 cents). I did it last season for a game on FS 2.
Thanks MR for the reference link and your post - what a terrific opportunity to play a big time team on the big time - chance to learn more about who we are.
Also nice to see how many family and friends a re following Simon as he plays back near his roots - another satisfied recruit which can only help draw others into our fold!!! SO far what's not to like about Justin Simon?
take SJU bias aside...what are the honest thoughts regarding a 5 point line...on the road...against a team that blew the doors off a real, real good Xavier team....without our 2nd best scorer.....?

Damn, you guys are making me nervous. Bracing for a loss, but praying we're not blow out. I'm thinking this can't be as tough as facing Duke, or Nova on the road. Hoping for a very tough and gritty performance by our undermanned and talented team.
for those of you going to the game tonight.....i attended the sju alumni event last night and spoke to one of the directors and he told me they are planning on taking a group photo on the court at 4:15 sharp today if you can make it......the alumni event had a nice crowd....anton goff was there and as i was leaving, ran into steve lavin and we spoke for a bit....had never met him before but it was nice he showed up for the alumni event.....
Two keys to me are for us to stay out of foul trouble and for Ponds and Simon, in particular, to penetrate and get ASU in foul trouble as they only go 7 deep. Hoping for a very competitive game.
Unfortunately, I don't have PAC 12 network as I have Directv. No game for me unless my son pirates the internet. I am not confident in this one. I am currently watching a replay of the GCU game and well I shouldn't. As discussed, we didn't look like a good team let alone a tournament team. Hopefully, it was an aberration.
Secondly, does anyone know if SJU sells the shirts CM and staff were wearing vs GCU. I have to say I like them a lot. Short sleeves in the winter might not be great in NYC but by spring... looks good.
