St. Mary's Game Thread

Jordan showed last weekend he can be the best player on this team behind DLo when he plays within himself. I think from now on we are gonna see sheed continue to play that way. He will be starting very soon if so

I completely agree with you, but does it really matter from a team standpoint who starts when you only have 6 guys in the rotation? They're all going to get major minutes. I realize it probably matters to Jordan and Branch, but I don't think it really makes a difference in terms of the team's performance. I just hope Lavin starts to utilize Jones or JDR. We're going to need to go at least 7 deep.

Second-best game -- Saint Mary's at St. John's (-8); 7 ET, FS1: The Red Storm have built a pretty strong early season resume, with its only loss coming to Gonzaga by single digits. Led by D'Angelo Harrison and Chris Obekpa, Steve Lavin's club has two top-40 wins book-ended with six other wins over non-top-250 competition. It'll get a solid test against Saint Mary's, who is coming off of a bad loss to Northern Arizona earlier this week. The Gaels have a few former high-major players, plus one of the best big men in the country in Brad Waldow. If Waldow can get Obekpa in foul trouble early, the Gaels have a shot here.

Question for Friday's game. What are the security policies at the Carnesseca Arena? I'll be coming straight from the office and have a backpack and laptop with me. Is that ok?

you will be subject to a strip search

Haha right. Man I wish it was easier to get to the Queens campus for these games.

And maybe even a full body cavity search! :eek:hmy:

;)

I bring my backpack to CA all the time. They will look through it and that's it. As long your courteous with security they won't break your shoes.

112, you ever look into the express buses from midtown or downtown? They drop you off right outside campus.

One hour from 3rd between 44 and 43. QM5, QM 6 or QM1. Six bucks on metro card.

Keys to the game:
-We need to execute on offense.
-We need to limit our turnovers.
-We need to defend the 3pt shot.
-And we need to rebound the ball.

And we need to score more points than them

JDR is in and played some good defense. Other than that the team is struggling. Taking a lot of jumpshots and not hitting

Fwiw, even though we are playing poorly right now, I like Joey Delarosa on the team. Hes more than a foul or two. Hes big, knows where to be on the court, uses his body well too. He will need some time but having w big guy to body other bigs will be very valuable down the stretch. I thought he'd be a plodder, but is not. He will help us against teams with big centers.

yep Waldo is a beast. Uses the rim nicely to protect against Obekpa. Lots of smooth moves. Gaels have nice interior defense. Must start to hit shots.
