St. John's to Leave Nike?

The new UA red uniforms have piping along the side.

Looks to be yellow. Could be white.

@FOXSports1: Big day for the #BIGEAST!

Don't think those are the ones we will be wearing. They don't have skyline and they aren't the old school ones either. I think they are the ones the team used for that fox commercial

Has the plan to wear the skyline jerseys for OOC games and the retro jerseys for BE games been modified? I would assume so, as my count is retro home/skyline away for the Tip Off, retro home for both exhibitions, and retro away for Wisconsin.

No big deal obviously, just wondering if anyone had heard anything, especially given all the publicity the OOC v. BE differential was given.

The retro jerseys are outstanding, best we've had since the 97-01(ish) Jordan's IMO.

Umm, where can I get this jacket Jakarr is wearing and for how much?

Wow.

Yeah Phil and Dom had one on earlier this week on a Twitter photo. Guessing its just a team custom made deal. Sweet though.

Don't they realize how much revenue they're forgoing by not making these gear available to the public?

Go to some of these huge state schools and they'd have these for sale in the bookstore. They would not be hard to get at all.

This is beyond absurd.

Is there someone we can contact? I think this is a joke. And then they wonder why there's a disconnect between the alumni and the school.

A jacket like that would retail at likely 250 to 300 bucks. Probably have to make at least in the neighborhood of 150 of them. Not disagreeing with your premise that more merch is needed but do you think we have 150 fans who would spend that for a jacket?

A jacket like that would not only sell to fans, it would sell to people in general because it's very fashionable.

Put the rapper J. Cole (alum) in one and snap a picture of him. People would go nuts trying to figure out how and where to get one.

Do we forget that we're in the fashion capital of the world? The same school that has rented space in Times Square?

They seriously need to turn over all marketing to a new group. You don't sign a deal with UA whose business is growing and stay status quo.

Where are the 718 t-shirts? Do you think only SJU fans would buy those? No way.

Again I agree about the direction that it needs a change with fresh products and ideas but the 718 shirts had St. John's University on it, right? Do that many people buy clothing that features another school or another sports team? I mean I know rappers do.

Some of the biggest consumers are kids who are not even college age. You're probably thinking about grown adults. I'm talking 14-25 yr olds. That should be the niche market.

Trust, all they would care about is the 718.

These are the same consumers who won't hesitate to drop $200 on the latest Jordan's, Lebron's and Durants.

This school is blowing it big time.

I'm still waiting for the skyline shorts the UA promised back in October for Non-Conf games. I know a lot of people other than myself who can't wait to get a pair of those.

I've been meaning to ask about this, and I apologize because I haven't seen every game, but have we worn the skyline uniform yet?

Pretty sure just Midnight Madness

Agree here. People comment on any IG photos with the players wearing those jackets or the 718 tees and ask where they can get them. I know a majority of them are likely SJU fans, but I think the quality under UA has risen to a level where SJU students (who may not necessarily care about the basketball team) would be interested and you might even get a non-SJU student/fan who is interested purely for the fashion. Between fans + non-fan students + potential fashion only interest, I think you have to at least test the market on what are projected to be the best products right? My best guess is that 500 of those 718 shirts wouldn't make it through February if well-positioned on campus and at Garden games.

Do you know how many non-Nets fans went out and bought Brooklyn Nets gear simply because it had "Brooklyn" written on it.

And the color scheme was easy to match clothes to.

We're not the Univ. of South Florida with lime green gear.

Would be very curious to know if any posters know who at the school is in charge of this?

The Nets did a masterful job with that. Brooklyn is a hip name, place to live etc. You are right about the younger demographic. Its very likely a HS Sr owns multiple basketball jerseys from different teams, and multiple baseball hats, etc. I just wouldn't equate a shirt with SJU on it along the same lines of Brooklyn in Black and White.

As a senior student, I know many people who are interested in the 718 shirts as well as other products the team has been wearing. The twitter account for SJUBB has been saying the shirts are coming but a ton of time has gone by and nothing has come out. I am a big fan of the new products since the switch to UA and I would like to get my hands on a bunch of it before I graduate in May!
