St. John's players in 2025 NBA Summer League

Summer League starts in Las Vegas today and runs through July 20. Game schedules and TV information are available at NBA.com and ESPN. I found 6 participants who finished their college careers at St. John's.

Daniss Jenkins, Pistons
Chris Ledlum, Rockets
RJ Luis Jr, Jazz
Kadary Richmond, Wizards
Aaron Scott, Celtics
Deivon Smith, Hawks

That doesn't include someone like David Jones-Garcia, who played his junior year for St. John's but last played for Memphis.

Of the 4 undrafted rookies, RJ Luis Jr signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz on Monday, which means he'll spend a little time next season on the main roster, but most of it with the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah's G League affiliate.

Kadary Richmond has an Exhibit 10 deal with the Washington Wizards; earlier reports that he had a two-way contract were erroneous. He'll be invited to Wizards training camp in the fall and stand a very good chance of playing for their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.

Aaron Scott and Deivon Smith are signed only for Summer League. This means that they are part of the team in Las Vegas and are insured against injury, and also receive a "reasonable expense allowance" to cover incidentals while in town.

Other BE guys noted too...

Not your fault, but it's always weird to see how images get cropped when Twitter/X posts get embedded on a bulletin board like this. The entire bottom row of Kadary Richmond, Aaron Scott, Deivon Smith, Thomas Sorber, and Jahmyl Telfort disappeared.

Daniss Jenkins - 22min, 18pts, 7-11fga, 3-5 3pta, 3ast, 3 reb, 2blk, 1stl, 1to (+19 pt dif)

Kolek - 27min, 10pts, 4-11fga, 0-5 3pta, 8ast, 6reb, 1stl, 1blk, 5to (-14 pt dif)

So the Knicks should get Daniss.

All 6 former Johnnies were on teams that played Friday, but none of the 4 rookies saw action.

Daniss Jenkins, Pistons:
18 pts (7-11 FG, 3-5 3PT, 1-1 FT), 3 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk in 22 min (starter)

Chris Ledlum, Rockets:
3 pts (1-2 FG, 1-1 3PT), 3 reb, 1 ast in 15 min (reserve)

RJ Luis Jr, Jazz:
DNP - out; left knee soreness (source)

Kadary Richmond, Wizards:
DNP - coach's decision

Aaron Scott, Celtics:
DNP - coach's decision

Deivon Smith, Hawks:
DNP - coach's decision

Daniss is putting on a show in game 2 against the Rockets. 20 points in the first half. 14 min, 6-8fga, 2-2 3pt, 6-6 FTs, 2 ast, 1stl

Ledlum has 1reb 2blks in 4 minutes for Houston

Daniss looks great. He will see some time with the Pistons this year imho

Daniss playing with a lot of confidence. Another efficient outing.

Ledlum with a low-key 5pt 6reb 3blk game for Houston. +5 pt differential despite his team losing by 15.

Aaron Scott got 5 min against the Knicks, scoreless with 1stl. Kolek struggling in Vegas.
1-13 from the field today and a combined 0-11 for 3pt range in two games .

Played well in the G League last year and lighting it up in the summer league. Two problems are (1) 6'5" guard is probably the deepest position in the NBA; (2) I wonder what summer league means (if anything) beyond an opportunity for teams to work on development of 10 or 15 rookies who were high draft picks. But sometimes a summer league star translates, and Jenkins is making a strong case to be that guy.
