St. John's-Notre Dame Game Thread.

Fantastic win! Protected our turf against a top team. As I said prior, our style is one that Brey struggles with. SJU and Dunlap pushed the pace and the kids played loose. Keep winning fellas!

Great picture of D'Angelo Harrison walking off of the court holding proudly holding out his St.John's jersey.

this team is only a few bigs from being very good.

Congrats on a Nice Win over Ranked Irish sets up a Good strech run into BE tourn.

Now w/ Cleary fired maybe more good seats will be available for Johnny games this march? :yell:

Thanks Redmen for a fantastic effort today!! Nothing like a win over a ranked team in the Mecca to make it a great weekend.
I definitely think GG deserves credit for his play today. Happy to see him contribute.

Dunlap needed a big body inside to stop the easy baskets by the Irish. Good move.

Got to like the composure of these kids, especially after losing a 12 point lead. Can't beat the experience they are getting, only can help for the future.

Agreed. We will end up with 6-8 conference wins this year under unimaginable circumstances and a team of all rookies, except for Stith's 2/3rds of a season. Double digit conference wins next year is not far fetched with adding a year of experience and Branch in mid-December. That's a tournament team. A few bigs and we're talking seeding rather than whether or not we get in. The doom and gloom guys can exit stage left. This year is finally shaping up as the foundational year most of us were hoping for.

A great win for the Johnnies today.......the way these kids pull together you just have to love them

A great victory as six first year players beat the hottest team in the BE as of late.
Another great coaching job by Coach Dunlap.

I understand that ND players were quoted that this game was important to them in securing a double bye for the Big East Tournament.

Now they can worry that if they face us, the only double bye they may receive is BYE-BYE!

Great gift as a preview of more to come next season, and maybe even a little more this year.

Yes, but they're gonna give me a heart attack with these endings.

Love it that Amir is emerging as a third scorer. He's made amazing progress since joining the team. Where would we be without him.

I think this game will be a turning point for these kids as it is the first win over a ranked team. They have been improving game by game and are learning how to win

"I thought their defense really bothered us, it sped us up," Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said. "We had some great looks but we didn't make enough of them. You're going to have to make some more jump shots over the top of that zone to escape here today."

Our defense was the best i've seen it this year although fatigue took its toll in the last couple of minutes.

What a great game. I was not impressed with with ND. They are just too slow. They won't do damage in the NCAAs if their shots aren't falling. I said 5 minutes into the game we are clearly the better team. The guys played great. We let them back in which I was afraid of with 8 minutes to go. I was texting updates to someone and said we are letting them hang around too much. The refs had a really bad stretch too where it seemed like we were playing 5 on 6. But a great game in the end, and very happy to meet some new posters at Irish Exit afterwards.

Great win. I brought my son's new inlaws to the game and even though they had never been to an SJU game before, or a college game for that matter, they left becoming Johnnies fans. We all had a great time and even though the crowd was smaller than I expected there was a buzz in the place when ND made it a game at the end and the ND fans got into in and the SJU fans got into it. All in all a great day for the program beating its first ranked team and sending every SJU fan home happy.
